Job summary

Autoliv Mexico is seeking a Development Seatbelts Engineer to provide technical support for customer engineering teams and plants, ensuring successful development, launch, and production of seatbelt products.

You will lead design and validation activities, collaborate with customers, and drive improvements to meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability goals. Some travel will be required to support global projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 3–6 years in automotive engineering.
• Strong product design and development skills, including CAD modeling, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with seatbelt systems or similar automotive safety products and manufacturing understanding.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal abilities with stakeholder influence.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support customers and plants.

Responsibilities

• Create, develop, and validate seatbelt product designs to meet specifications and standards.
• Collaborate with customers to balance styling with designs, manufacturing capabilities, and cost.
• Drive development activities to achieve First Time Right and efficient project execution.
• Lead design reviews, validation activities, and resolve technical issues.

In this role you will beresponsible for providing technical support to customer engineering teams and manufacturing plants, ensuring the successful development, launch, and production of products.

Should you be interested in overseeing these tasks and aiming for enhanced performance standards, your role will involve:

• Create, develop, and validate seatbelt product designs to ensure compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal engineering standards.

• Collaborate directly with customers to balance styling expectations with Autoliv standard designs, manufacturing capabilities, and cost objectives.

• Drive product development activities to achieve First Time Right (1P1P) expectations, ensuring robust design quality and efficient project execution.

• Lead design reviews, validation activities, and technical problem-solving efforts to ensure product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

• Support customer engineering teams and manufacturing plants by implementing engineering changes, resolving technical issues, and ensuring successful product launches and production readiness.

If you have/are:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline, with 3-6 years of engineering experience in the automotive industry.

• Strong proficiency in product design and development, including CAD modeling, GD&T application, and tolerance stack-up analysis.

• Experience working with seatbelt systems or similar automotive safety products, with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes and product validation requirements.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and negotiate technical solutions with customers and cross-functional teams.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support customers, manufacturing plants, and global project activities.
