Job summary

EDAG Mexico is seeking a Design Release Engineer/Product Engineer for interior and exterior trim. The role requires a minimum of 5 years in automotive development and strong experience with interior/exterior trim. Key duties include design release leadership, GD&T, PPAP, supplier coordination and cross-functional collaboration.

You will develop 3D data, define manufacturing requirements, support SOP launch, and mentor junior team members in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in automotive engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in automotive development.
• Experience with interior and exterior trim is required.
• Strong knowledge of APQP, DFMEA, DVP&R, DFA, DFM and PPAP.
• Proficiency in GD&T and tolerance analysis; plastics and metals experience.
• Experience with tooling, PPAP approvals, and supplier interactions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate design release activities for door trim, IP, center console or exterior trim.
• Support business pursuit activities through tool kick-off (feasibility, cost, manufacturability).
• Develop and build parametric 3D data autonomously per standards.
• Define product and manufacturing requirements and support SOP transitions.
• Apply GD&T and tolerance analysis to ensure fit, function and gaps.
• Lead root-cause and debug activities (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
• Interface with suppliers for tooling feasibility, issues and PPAP approval.
• Train team members and review work to ensure quality.
• Communicate problems, proposals and risks clearly to the client.

DESCRIPTION

• Lead and coordinate design release activities for door trim, instrument panel (IP), center console or Exterior trim

• Support business pursuit activities through tool kick-off. (feasibility, cost and manufacturing).

• Develop and build parametric 3D data autonomously according to construction standards and propose new waysto increase design efficiency with the level of quality required by EDAG and our clients.

• Define product and manufacturing requirements; support design to SOP.

• Apply GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure proper fit, function and gap-flush quality in the vehicleenvironment; Lead root-cause and debug activities (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).

• Manage the technical interface with suppliers: tooling feasibility, engineering issues and PPAP approval.

• Train people in the team with less experience, coordinating and reviewing the work done by them.

• Communicate clearly with the client, presenting problems, proposals and possible solutions with associatedadvantages and risks.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Automotive engineering, Mechatronic engineering, Mechanicalengineering or related.

• 5+ year of experience inside the automotive industry in development area.

• Knowledge in interior & exterior trim.

• Advance knowledge in APQP, DFMEA, DVP&R, DFA, DFM, PPAP, GD&T and Materials.

• Experience with plastic and metal parts; injection molding, SMC and thermoforming process.

• Experience with soft trim technologies (sewing, wrap/foil lamination) (desirable.)

• International Experience (desirable)

• Experience in developing phase from: Concept until tooling kick off.

• English B2(Advanced)

• German A2 (desirable)
