Job summary

EDAG Group in Puebla, Mexico, seeks a Design Release Engineer/Product Engineer for interior and exterior trim to lead design release activities and coordinate cross-functional teams, from concept through tooling kickoff. You will work with suppliers, run APQP processes, and ensure GD&T and PPAP compliance.

The role requires 5+ years in automotive development, experience with trim, plastics and metals, and English B2 (German A2 desirable).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience inside the automotive industry in development area.
• Bachelor’s degree in Automotive engineering, Mechatronic engineering, Mechanical engineering or related.
• Knowledge in interior & exterior trim.
• Advanced knowledge in APQP, DFMEA, DVP&R, DFA, DFM, PPAP, GD&T and Materials.
• Experience with plastic and metal parts; injection molding, SMC and thermoforming process.
• Experience with soft trim technologies (sewing, wrap/foil lamination) (desirable).
• International Experience (desirable).
• Experience in developing phase from Concept until tooling kick off.
• English B2(Advanced)
• German A2 (desirable)
• 1 year contract

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate design release activities for door trim, IP, center console or Exterior trim.
• Support business pursuit activities through tool kick-off (feasibility, cost and manufacturing).
• Develop and build parametric 3D data autonomously according to construction standards and propose new ways to increase design efficiency with the level of quality required by EDAG and our clients.
• Define product and manufacturing requirements; support design to SOP.
• Apply GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure proper fit, function and gap-flush quality in the vehicle environment; Lead root-cause and debug activities (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
• Manage the technical interface with suppliers: tooling feasibility, engineering issues and PPAP approval.
• Train people in the team with less experience, coordinating and reviewing the work done by them.
• Communicate clearly with the client, presenting problems, proposals and possible solutions with associated advantages and risks.
