Job summary

EDAG is seeking a Design Release Engineer/Product Engineer-Interior & Exterior Trim in Puebla, Mexico. You lead design release for door trim, IP, center console or exterior trim and coordinate cross-functional teams to meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities include tool kick-off feasibility studies, 3D data development, APQP/PPAP and GD&T processes, and supplier technical interfaces. English is required and German is a plus; 1-year contract.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Automotive, Mechatronic or Mechanical engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in automotive development.
• Knowledge of interior and exterior trim.
• Advanced knowledge of APQP, DFMEA, DVP&R, DFA, DFM, PPAP, GD&T.
• Experience with plastic and metal parts; injection molding, SMC and thermoforming.
• Experience with soft trim technologies (sewing, wrap/foil lamination).
• International experience desirable.
• English at least B2; German A2 desirable.
• 1 year contract.

• Train people in the team with less experience, coordinating and reviewing the work done by them.
• Communicate clearly with the client, presenting problems, proposals and possible solutions with associated advantages and risks.

DESCRIPTION

• Lead and coordinate design release activities for door trim, instrument panel (IP), center console or Exterior trim
• Support business pursuit activities through tool kick-off. (feasibility, cost and manufacturing).
• Develop and build parametric 3D data autonomously according to construction standards and propose new ways to increase design efficiency with the level of quality required by EDAG and our clients.
• Define product and manufacturing requirements; support design to SOP.
• Apply GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure proper fit, function and gap-flush quality in the vehicle environment; Lead root-cause and debug activities (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
• Manage the technical interface with suppliers: tooling feasibility, engineering issues and PPAP approval.
• Train people in the team with less experience, coordinating and reviewing the work done by them.
• Communicate clearly with the client, presenting problems, proposals and possible solutions with associated advantages and risks.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor´s degree in Automotive engineering, Mechatronic engineering, Mechanical engineering or related.
• 5+ year of experience inside the automotive industry in development area.
• Knowledge in interior & exterior trim.
• Advance knowledge in APQP, DFMEA, DVP&R, DFA, DFM, PPAP, GD&T and Materials.
• Experience with plastic and metal parts; injection molding, SMC and thermoforming process.
• Experience with soft trim technologies (sewing, wrap/foil lamination) (desirable. )
• International Experience (desirable)
• Experience in developing phase from: Concept until tooling kick off.
• English B2 (Advanced)
• German A2 (desirable)
