Johnson Controls seeks a CAD Design Engineer for a temporary 2-year contract in the Monterrey area. You will plan and execute basic design projects, prepare CAD deliverables, and coordinate layout and packaging to support product builds.

You will manage release activities in EPIC, conduct CAD studies, and collaborate with engineers and project managers to prevent scope gaps and keep projects moving forward—while maintaining accuracy and clear communication.

Formación

  • University degree with 1 year experience, or 2 year degree with 6+ years experience.
  • Experience supporting basic design or drafting in product development.
  • Working knowledge of CAD-based documentation and release processes.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and manage details with accuracy.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and changing design requirements.

  • Prepare and support CAD deliverables for internal stakeholders and customer-facing needs as assigned.
  • Coordinate layout and packaging work to support product build requirements and design intent.
  • Manage release coordination activities using EPIC and ensure documentation is ready for release.
  • Perform CAD studies supporting design decisions and product improvement.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and design team members to resolve scope gaps and move work forward.
  • Monitor project risks and communicate changes early so timelines and deliverables stay on track.
  • Support organized, release-ready design output for successful product builds.

Role Overview
What will you do?
  • Plan and execute basic design projects related to new product development, redesigns, and production modifications.
  • Prepare and support CAD deliverables for internal stakeholders and customer-facing needs as assigned.
  • Coordinate layout and packaging work to support product build requirements and design intent.
  • Manage release coordination activities using EPIC and help ensure documentation is complete and ready for release.
  • Perform CAD studies that support design decisions, project execution, and product improvement.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and design team members to resolve scope gaps and keep work moving forward.
  • Monitor project risks and communicate changes or concerns early so timelines and deliverables remain on track.
  • Support accurate, organized, and release-ready design output that contributes to successful product builds.
How will you do it?
  • Take ownership of your work with accountability, accuracy, and integrity from concept through release.
  • Stay close to the work by clarifying expectations early, asking the right questions, and removing obstacles before they affect delivery.
  • Use practical problem-solving and continuous improvement to identify design gaps, resolve issues, and strengthen each deliverable.
  • Work as one team with engineers, project managers, and fellow designers by sharing information openly and respecting different perspectives.
What are we looking for?
  • University degree with a suggested minimum of 1 year of experience, or a 2 year degree with a suggested minimum of 6 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience supporting basic design or drafting work in a product development, redesign, or production modification environment.
  • Working knowledge of CAD-based documentation and release processes.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, manage details carefully, and support work that requires accuracy and follow-through.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and changing design requirements.
Nice to Have
  • Proficiency with CREO.
  • Experience with system or large assembly layouts.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal construction, drawing best practices, and DFM.
  • Experience with PDM-related file management processes.
