Job Description

This is a hybrid position requiring 8 days/month in the office, based in Mexico City. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission, as WRI cannot sponsor visas for this role.

About the Program

The WRI Ross Centre for Sustainable Cities (Cities Program) aims to transform cities into compact, connected, and resilient spaces, providing healthy, accessible, and prosperous environments. We focus on eight solution areas: Integrated Transport Systems, Vision Zero, Zero Carbon Buildings, Livable Neighborhoods, E-Mobility, Water/Heat Resilience, Air Quality, and Inclusive Climate & Energy Action Planning. Data and Urban Finance are cross-cutting themes. We work with stakeholders over long periods to demonstrate possibilities and expand impact through partnerships and city networks, connecting sustainability with health, safety, equity, and quality of life.

Job Highlights

You will integrate equity into your work. Reporting to the Global Lead of the PPMO in the Cities Program, you will manage network-wide monitoring, data analysis, and reporting. You will handle technical aspects of project monitoring, communicate findings, and train staff. This role involves designing reports and online platforms, implementing data collection and cleaning processes, and developing dashboards for decision-making. You will also support system development, build automated data pipelines using Python, and promote best practices in data management. Additionally, you will contribute to capacity building within the program and support project management efforts. Key Responsibilities
  • System and Tool Design, Development, and Maintenance (50%): Develop automated systems for data extraction, design datasets, maintain data pipelines using Python/R, and document processes.
  • Business Analytics and Insights (30%): Analyze project data, develop reports and dashboards, and propose process improvements.
  • Program and Project Management Support (15%): Enhance processes, conduct data analysis for project reviews, and support impact evaluations.
  • Staff Management and Training (5%): Lead onboarding sessions on tools and reporting processes.
Minimum Requirements
  • Completed bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years in performance management, monitoring, evaluation, or nonprofit operations.
  • Expertise in statistics, data projects, and tools like Power BI, QGIS, ArcGIS.
  • Experience in data management, quality, validation, and visualization.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting, git, Excel, and related tools.
  • Strong communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Turkish, or Chinese is a plus.
  • Existing work authorization in the position’s location; visa sponsorship is not available.
