THE WORK

The Work

• Design and evolve the overall data architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and flexibility across data pipelines, transformations, and storage.
• Partner with Analytics Engineers, Product, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into well-modeled, production-ready data solutions.
• Lead the development of batch and real-time data pipelines, leveraging tools such as Python, DBT, Snowflake, and Kafka to enable efficient ingestion and processing.
• Establish best practices for SQL development, dimensional modeling, and metadata-driven design to improve reporting and analytics outcomes.
• Implement and maintain high standards for data quality, security, and governance, embedding these practices into all stages of the data lifecycle.
• Drive innovation by incorporating emerging technologies such as AI/ML pipelines and vector databases to extend the company’s data capabilities.
• Mentor engineers and set the technical direction for data platforms, guiding architectural decisions and fostering a culture of problem-solving and adaptability.

Needed Expertise

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or architecture, with a proven track record of building scalable data pipelines and systems.
• Deep expertise in SQL, data modeling (relational and dimensional), and architecting solutions on modern cloud data warehouses, preferably Snowflake.
• Strong proficiency with transformation and orchestration tools such as DBT, Airflow, Prefect, or Airbyte, including ELT/ETL workflow design.
• Advanced Python programming skills, with experience in building and maintaining production-grade ingestion frameworks and APIs.
• Hands-on experience with real-time streaming technologies (Kafka) and knowledge of batch vs. streaming tradeoffs.
• Familiarity with AI/ML pipeline design, vector databases, or machine learning model deployment is a strong plus.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across distributed teams and mentor peers.
• Willing to relocate to Mexico City.
