We are looking for a Data Analyst to join Wood Mackenzie’s Power and Renewables Data team.

This role will focus on the analysis, programmatic acquisition, and preparation of data for delivery to our customers and research teams.

Wood Mackenzie produces research and data that the energy industry relies on to understand and navigate the energy transition. Examples of products that you will contribute to include:

  • Power supply and demand long-term outlooks
  • Power market pricing history and long-term outlooks

Responsibilities

  • Own the quality and delivery timeline of critical datasets
  • Obtain, transform, and deliver information from our databases to support industry analysis using Excel, PowerQuery, PowerBI, GraphQL, SQL, Sisense, Python, and Snowflake
  • Create and maintain workflows for internal stakeholders
  • Create and maintain data pipelines to feed customer facing products
  • Identify and assess opportunities for optimization of our systems, processes, and datasets
  • Monitor and resolve alerts in production environments to preserve the integrity of our products
  • Identify internal and external sources of data that will support customer needs
  • Collaborate with colleagues across multiple time zones and disciplines to uncover pain points, process improvements, and product requirements.

About You

  • At least 2 years of experience in a data analyst or data engineering role
  • Experience working in environments reliant on SQL, Python, and Snowflake
  • Experience with ETL processes and APIs for data integration
  • Hands on approach to problem solving that delves into the details while maintaining the ability to succinctly propose solutions to steer management decisions
  • Independently completes projects given time and platform constraints
  • Desire to play a key role in the energy transition by delivering the data and research that catalyzes progress
  • Intellectual curiosity about the provenance of data and journey it makes to arrive at a destination
  • Passionate ownership of projects and excitement to share accomplishments with fellow Woodmackers
  • Preferred: Experience in the energy industry or power modelling domain
