Remote Accountant (Mexico-Based)
The candidate must have a proven track record in managing full-cycle accounting for multiple clients.
This position requires overseeing accounting services for several companies over the course of a year, with a focus on maintaining a consistent workflow, meticulous documentation, and financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
1. Accounting and Financial Reporting:
- Maintain and manage the full accounting cycle for assigned companies.
- Ensure timely accuracy of transactions, bank reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), including Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, balance sheets, and retained earnings.
2. Accounting and Financial Reporting:
- Maintain and manage the complete accounting cycle for assigned companies.
- Ensure timely recording of transactions, bank reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
- Manage AP and AR, including DPO (Days Payable Outstanding) and DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) reporting.
- Generate P&L statements, balance sheets, and retained earnings calculations.
- Prepare depreciation schedules and manage fixed assets.
3. Tax Compliance and Reporting:
- Handle tax filings in Mexico, including ISR (Income Tax), and manage related U.S. tax documentation.
- Ensure compliance with both Mexican tax laws (particularly Articles 179 and 180) and U.S. tax obligations.
- Assist in the preparation of U.S. tax returns and ensure timely filing.
4. Documentation and Workflow:
- Maintain documentation integrity for each assigned company using cloud-based storage systems.
- Follow weekly and monthly workflows: bank reconciliations on Mondays and transaction updates on Fridays.
- Ensure cash position reports are delivered to clients by 6:00 PM every Monday.
5. Client Reporting:
- Provide clients with weekly and monthly reports on their financial status.
- Communicate effectively with clients and the director on accounting matters and potential improvements.
Required Skills:
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proven experience using QuickBooks Online, XERO, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of Mexican tax law and experience submitting electronic filings through the SAT portal.
- Experience managing fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and periodic amortization.
- Fluency in English is essential, both spoken and written.
