About the Company

Our client is a growing construction company, specializing primarily in framing and drywall projects across the U.S., including commercial sectors like hotels, retail stores, and restaurants. We are building our in-house team to support a dedicated and growing project pipeline. We pride ourselves on dedication to timelines and consistently turning projects over on time or early, prioritizing strong client relationships.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly organized, meticulous, and proactive professional to take on a hybrid Estimator and Project Coordinator role. This is a critical, newly created position essential for scaling the company's operations. You will be the first person in this role, working closely and daily with the firm’s leadership to implement and manage core operational processes.

This position requires a "doer" with a high attention to detail who is comfortable wearing multiple hats and taking initiative to drive projects from the bidding stage through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating and Bidding

  • Prepare detailed, accurate, and comprehensive cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead for various construction projects ranging from $50,000 to over $1 million (primarily drywall and framing).

  • Analyse and perform accurate material take-offs and manage material ordering for all awarded projects.

  • Maintain open communication with clients and construction managers regarding project scope and materials.

  • Develop and manage the bid process, including preparing and submitting competitive proposals and tenders.

  • Review and qualify subcontractor and vendor bids for completeness and compliance with project specifications.

  • Identify and assess potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering options.

  • Utilize construction estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift, HCSS, etc.) for take-offs and estimate preparation.

  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of construction methods, materials, and local building codes and regulations.

Project Coordination & Administration

  • Coordinate material delivery to various job sites, ensuring proper receipt and addressing any shortages.

  • Serve as the primary remote administrative and logistical support, including placing field personnel on specific jobs.

  • Communicate with clients' construction managers via email to manage scheduling, updates, and oversight.

  • Collaborate daily with the firm’s leadership and external stakeholders from the sister company to ensure seamless project execution.

  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records of estimated and actual project costs, historical data, and vendor databases.

  • Present prepared estimates and proposals to management, clients, or other stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Proven background in construction estimating, project coordination, or a related administrative field. Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.

  • Experience working knowledge of blueprint database software such as Autodesk, Procore, or Bluebeam.

  • Fluency in Outlook and Excel spreadsheets.

  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand complex blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Must be flexible and comfortable taking on new tasks as the company grows.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for client-facing and internal coordination.

Nice to have:

  • PMI certification or related professional background is a plus, but not required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, it's a plus!

  • Flexibility to travel to U.S. project sites occasionally is a valuable asset.
