Caterpillar Inc. in Nuevo León seeks a CNC New Products Developer to lead machining-process development, NPI readiness, and source transfers. You will align CNC programs, tooling, fixtures, and capacity with business goals, driving continuous improvement across machining operations and capital projects.

Qualifications include a Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing engineering degree and advanced English. Location is in Cienega de Flores; five-day on-site workweek with relocation support.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Expert in manufacturing engineering, including NPI, source transfers, process development, or capital projects.
  • Advanced English working knowledge; machining processes and controls knowledge.

  • Improve productivity, flow, cost, quality, and process capability with Lean and data-driven methods.
  • Coordinate CAPEX, governance, schedules, and on-time delivery for NPI, transfers, and launches.

Job Summary

CNC New Products Developer leads the engineering organization responsible for machining process development, CNC manufacturing readiness, New Product Introduction (NPI), New Source Introduction and source transfers, product changes, and capital projects. This role ensures production ramp-up by aligning people, CNC programs, tooling, fixtures, equipment, capacity, quality, cost, safety, and schedules with business objectives. The position develops engineering talent, directs cross‑functional execution, and drives sustainable improvements across machining operations, with strong knowledge of Mazak, Siemens, and Fanuc control systems.

Responsibilities
  • Develop new projects / products, setting priorities and driving safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead DFM/DFA and design reviews, ensuring early Manufacturing and Product Engineering alignment.
  • Develop and validate machining processes, CNC programs, layouts, standard work, PFMEA, control plans, capacity models, tooling, fixture, equipment, and automation.
  • Improve productivity, flow, cost, quality, and process capability through Lean and data‑driven problem solving.
  • Ensure APQP, PPAP, process validation, launch readiness, operator training, and regulatory and customer compliance.
  • Coordinate BOMs, routings, PFEP, material readiness, and manufacturing systems with Supply Chain and Operations.
  • Manage project governance, engineering changes, risks, schedules, reporting, and delivery commitments.
  • Own CAPEX business cases, prioritization, forecasting, controls, and on‑time, on‑budget execution.
Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Expert in manufacturing engineering, including people leadership and responsibility for NPI, source transfers, process development, or capital projects. Advanced English Working knowledge of machining processes, CNC equipment, cutting tools, fixtures, programming fundamentals, Mazak, Siemens and Fanuc controls, tooling, capacity planning, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Lean Manufacturing, and project management.

Skills

Technical Skills: Provides expert guidance on machining processes, CNC equipment, Mazak, Siemens and Fanuc controls, NPI, source transfers, product changes, process validation, tooling, fixturing, quality core tools, cost reduction, and CAPEX decisions.

Operational Functions: Integrates Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, and Program Management to remove barriers, deploy best practices, and achieve launch and production-readiness objectives.

Collaborating: Builds shared goals, transparent communication, and cross-functional accountability across functions, regions, and organizational levels to accelerate decisions and execution.

Continuous Transformation: Leads adoption of new technologies, systems, workflows, automation, and lessons learned to improve organizational capability, scalability, and operational performance.

Influencing Through Expertise: Uses technical credibility, stakeholder insight, risk assessment, and data‑driven recommendations to influence manufacturing, investment, and launch decisions.

Project Management: Plans and controls scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, milestones, and governance for complex NPI, transfer, change, and capital projects.

Capacity Planning & Management - MFG: Converts demand and launch plans into short- and long-term requirements for labor, equipment, tooling, floor space, automation, and capital investment.

Lean Manufacturing: Establishes Lean roadmaps, develops problem-solving capability, and sustains measurable improvements in flow, waste elimination, standard work, employee engagement, quality, cost, and productivity.

Top Candidates Also Have
  • Master’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Engineering Management, or Business Administration (MBA).
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification; PMP or equivalent project management certification; and formal training in APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and core quality tools.
  • Expertise with CNC machining centers, Mazak, Siemens and Fanuc control systems, ERP/MES platforms, manufacturing analytics, automation, robotics, and data‑driven production systems.
Additional Information

Location: Cienega de Flores, Nuevo Leon. This position is five-day a week in‑office model. Sponsorship for foreign candidates is not available. Relocation assistance is available for this position.
