Director of Technology

This role oversees the technology strategy, ensuring scalability and reliability across all products. The ideal candidate will have experience leading technical teams, strong knowledge of cloud architectures and TypeScript, and a balance of strategic vision and hands-on execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own Luca's technology strategy to ensure scalability and security across all products.
- Make key architecture decisions balancing short-term speed with long-term sustainability.
- Lead and mentor the engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
- Code alongside the team when needed to unblock critical issues, build features, and make things real.
- Integrate AI-driven technologies into the platform to enhance teacher, student, and parent experiences.
- Optimize processes and tools: CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, security, and code quality.
- Manage infrastructure and vendor relationships, always focused on performance and cost efficiency.
- Ensure compliance and data protection best practices, safeguarding user trust.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including leading technical teams.
- Solid background in scalable cloud architectures (GCP/AWS/Azure) and distributed databases.
- Deep knowledge of TypeScript, React/React Native, and GraphQL (our core stack).
- Strong experience with infrastructure, DevOps, CI/CD, and monitoring systems.
- Proven ability to lead distributed teams and balance strategic vision with hands-on technical execution.
