Job summary

Continental is seeking a qualified chemist to join its materials and testing lab in Mexico. You will ensure reliable analytical methods, maintain instruments, and support quality decisions through data-driven analysis.

You will apply ASTM/ISO/DIN standards, perform thermal/spectroscopic tests, and collaborate with Quality, R&D, Product Engineering and Production to investigate issues. Strong communication and documentation are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Eng, Materials Science, or related field.
• 2 years lab experience in analytical chemistry or materials characterization.
• Proficiency with thermal/spectroscopic techniques (TGA, DSC, FTIR/ATR, DMA) and rheology tests.
• Familiar with instrument control software, LIMS, and data analysis tools; understanding of ISO/IEC 17025.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operation, calibration and qualification of analytical and physical test instruments; lead troubleshooting.
• Develop, validate and maintain test methods aligned with ASTM/ISO/DIN standards.
• Interpret analytical data with respect to materials and formulations.
• Apply SPC, Cpk, and Gauge R&R to monitor test system performance.
• Collaborate with Quality, R&D, Product Engineering and Production to investigate out-of-spec results.
• Lead Chemical Hygiene Plan and training for lab personnel.
