Overview

Ampure Charging Systems is powering the future of sustainable mobility. We are a leading provider of charging solutions with a focus on safety, efficiency, and extending battery life. Our chargers support on-road electric vehicles as well as industrial applications such as forklifts and airport ground support equipment.

We are seeking a highly skilled CAD Drafter / Designer with extensive experience in automotive and high-volume production environments. The ideal candidate has expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks and can work quickly and accurately on complex 3D modeling, drawing creation, and modifications. A deep understanding of plastic and metal part design, as well as design for high-volume production, is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks with speed and precision.
• Implement redline revisions and rapid design changes while maintaining accuracy.
• Manage SolidWorks PDM and maintain BOM structures.
• Experience with PDM Manage is a plus.
• Modify CATIA V5 drawings as needed (a plus).
• Ensure designs comply with ASME Y14.5 standards for GD&T.
• Follow ISO 9001 and IATF/TS16949 quality processes.
• Work with electro-mechanical assemblies, plastic components, and metal parts for automotive and high-volume production.
• Apply strong knowledge of plastic design guidelines and an understanding of plastic injection molding.
• Design for high-volume production, ensuring manufacturability, cost efficiency, and scalability.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for large-scale production.
• Ensure error-free execution under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bilingual in English & Spanish (written & verbal).
• 10+ years of experience as a CAD Drafter / Designer in automotive and high-volume production industries.
• Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks, with the ability to work very fast while maintaining accuracy.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and GD&T principles.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards (UL, CE, NEC, IP ratings) and compliance testing.
• Experience with SolidWorks PDM and BOM structures.
• Familiarity with PDM Manage (preferred).
• Ability to modify CATIA V5 drawings (preferred).
• Extensive experience with plastic design and injection molding.
• Experience with metal part design and their integration into high-volume products.
• Proven ability to design for high-volume production and ensure manufacturability.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and meet tight deadlines.
• Experience with reviewing FEA simulation results is a plus.
• Proficient in English for technical documentation and workplace communication.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in automotive, electro-mechanical product development, and high-volume design.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
