HSBC Holdings plc is seeking a Credit Analyst in Mexico to lead the Business Credit Office (BCO) for CCM. You will oversee credit analysis, client monitoring, and negotiation of terms, reporting to the BCO COE Head in Mexico.

The role requires deep CCM experience, cross-functional collaboration, and a strong controls mindset. You will manage a team, drive productivity, and align with global operating models while supporting USA and other LATAM markets.

Formación

  • Chartered Accountant / master's in business, Finance, Economics or equivalent essential; CFA desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years’ CCM or credit background with strong loan portfolio management.
  • Proven track record in leading senior stakeholders and strategic planning.
  • Knowledge of Investment Banking including Securities, Treasury, FX, Derivatives, ESG and Climate risk.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills; ability to balance commercial and risk outcomes.

Responsabilidades

Business Credit office, Credit Analyst
Role Purpose

Credit & Capital Management (CCM) team under CIB are implementing a new, modern, and consistent E2E operating model, of which a key component is the introduction of a first line credit management office (the Business Credit Office.) The BCO function will complete tasks including structuring, credit analysis and rating recommendation, client credit monitoring tasks, credit terms and docs negotiation with WCMR and clients acting as a single handoff from a RM to the BCO for all CCM tasks, creating a single control point.

The VP, BCO COE Mexico will be responsible for ensuring exemplary risk management acumen and control standards are embedded within the end-to-end CCM process. In discharging their duties, the role holder must implement a common, reliable, and predictable underwriting and lending process, that protects the business from exposure, whilst responding to clients’ borrowing needs. The role holder will report directly to the BCO COE Head and will work closely with the Coverage and Transaction Support teams to ensure seamless customer experience and consistency of service globally. The selected candidate will be expected to lead the BCO COE teams supporting USA (immediate priority), other LAM markets and Spain over medium to long term.

Key Responsibilities
  • Country head of BCO COE team in Mexico.
  • Responsible for the delivery of BCO tasks in line with agreed OKRs, SLAs and KPIs for own portfolio of clients. Please note a commensurate portfolio comprising of moderate to high complexity of clients will have to be managed by the successful candidate.
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end CCM journey, ensuring a seamless and efficient process for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • BCO Regional Heads, WMR and other key stakeholders where necessary to ensure successful completion of key Optimization and Transformation initiatives
  • Manage a team comprising of a mix of third-party contractors and perm resources for ensuring the team performs well together, and manage their workflow, training & development to deliver the BCO model satisfactorily within agreed timelines
  • Continuously drive improvement in productivity of the BCO team whilst enhancing client experience
  • Drive adoption of technology/digital and customer experience improvement initiatives, including alignment to a globally consistent C&L operating model.
  • Monitor and analyze customer and stakeholder feedback, identifying key areas of focus to improve customer outcomes.
  • Work with the Head of BCO COE to ensure risks and issues related to CCM are escalated to country, regional and global stakeholders and resolved in a satisfactory manner.
  • Closely work with the senior management team and Regional Sustainability Champions to drive various activities as part of the Group's transition to Net Zero along with implementing various strategic initiatives across BCO teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across credit analysis activities to deliver a high and consistent standard.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across the teams, including credibility with both Business and Risk teams.
  • Develop and maintain a diverse, innovation-driven BCO team, ensuring high levels of engagement and satisfaction
  • Participate in deal discussions and meetings with clients or credit risk as required.
  • Protect the Bank by acting as First Line of Defense and observing all controls.
  • Identifies and anticipates all types of risks (e.g., industry, portfolio, diversification, sovereign, commercial, currency, etc.) and identify micro and macro trends impacting the credit portfolio, working with WCRM and business heads to take appropriate steps in changes to underwriting criteria and conducting rapid portfolio reviews.
  • Demonstrates ability to engage in constructive and consistent dialogue with risk partners, in a manner that effectively balances commercial outcomes and risk management
  • Work with the Head of BCO to ensure adequate credit risk management controls are built into the operational process and robust MI is in place to track and measure risk against agreed thresholds.
  • Effectively coordinate with other COE co-leads to deliver the CCM/BCO objectives smoothly.
  • To regularly host exchanges for the team and ensure necessary action plans are designed and executed for resolution.
  • Foster a culture of compliance amongst the BCO team membersas regards Group Compliance Policy.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Chartered Accountants / master’s in business, Finance, Economics or equivalent is essential and any professional qualification (i.e. CFA, Chartered Banker) is desirable. If none, tenured experiences in credit analysis and/or credit approvals will be considered.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in CCM or credit background, with a strong background in managing CIB loan portfolios.
  • Proven track record in leading and managing senior stakeholders, with experience in organizational design and strategic planning.
  • Knowledge of Investment Banking is mandatory, such as Securities, Treasury, Foreign Exchange, Derivatives, ESG and Climate risk.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate complex situations and drive alignment among senior stakeholders.
  • Expertise in credit risk management and control assessment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to articulate customer feedback and distil key areas of focus.
  • Proven ability managing in a large and complex operational environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, commercial mindset with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of operationalizing policies and procedures for managing or minimizing risk – including credit, operational, regulatory and reputational risk – in accordance with the Group Standards Manual, Risk FIM, relevant guidelines and standards
