Job summary

General Motors de México is seeking a Maintenance Group Leader to coordinate maintenance in the Body Shop. You will lead skilled trades, assign daily work, and prioritize preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure safe, reliable operations of welding robots, conveyors, PLCs, and other equipment.

You will monitor downtime, backlog, and alarms, perform root-cause analyses, and collaborate with Production, Quality, Safety, and Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in maintenance of automated manufacturing lines.
• Knowledge of industrial robots (FANUC), PLCs (Allen-Bradley), networks, welding, and body shop conveyors.
• Experience in failure analysis, reliability, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to lead teams, foster collaboration, and communicate effectively.
• Intermediate English proficiency.
• Availability to work rotating shifts (4-on/3-off).

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance employees and provide coaching, development, and performance feedback.
• Ensure safety requirements, PPE, Lockout/Tagout, ESWP, and high-risk procedures are followed.
• Coordinate preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance.
• Monitor alarms, downtime, work orders, PM compliance, and backlog.
• Lead root-cause analyses and corrective actions.
• Support Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Safety, and other functions.
• Maintain standardized work and procedures.
• Support TPM, continuous improvement, shutdowns, and special projects.
• Ensure cross-shift communication and accurate documentation in Maximo and plant systems.
• Drive improvements in safety, quality, cost, and environmental performance.
