Job summary

ALTEN Mexico is seeking a Body Design & Release Engineer to drive the engineering, design, timing, and production release of exterior trim components and BIW systems. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate design and development for automotive applications.

The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 3+ years of automotive component design experience, with strong CAD skills (CATIA V5, NX) and DFMEA/DRBFM/DVP&R knowledge.

• Experience with FEM/BIW processes and exterior trim components.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, timing, and production release of body components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate design and release.
• Support design for EMC/ESD and light/emission specifications as needed.
• Prepare DFMEA/DRBFM/DVP&R and validation plans and reports.
• Manage BoM creation/editing and release of mechanical and electrical parts.

We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Body Design & Release Engineer to join our team. As a Body Design & Release Engineer, you will be responsible for the engineering, design, development, timing, and production release of body components and systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate design and development of body systems, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the design and release processes.

The area we are seeking currently to cover is Exterior Trim components.

Experience Level: 3+ years

Requirements:

Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent

3+ years of engineering automotive component experience designing and developing on the following:

• Aero/Cladding
• Front-End Module (FEM)

• CAD experience with Unigraphics NX, Catia V5 and Teamcenter in a production release environment BIW (Body in White)
• Knowledgeable regarding high strength steels/ aluminum forming processes, weld parameters and GD&T
• Experience with OEM or supplier on design and release
• Experience/knowledge with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Review Based on Failure Mode (DRBFM) and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) and validation plans.
• BoM’s creation and edition
• Knowledge and experience with composites and composite production processes
• Release experience in both Mechanical and electrical components
• Working knowledge of designing for EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) design/prevention
• Prior exposure to automotive lighting specifications and standards an asset; electronics specifications
• Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and/or Reactive Green/Black Belt
• BIW in-plant launch experience
• Experience designing and developing injection molding, painting, and decorating plastic Class A components
• CAE/Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) knowledge
• Experience leading technical teams successfully across varied levels of management and between OEM and supply base
• Experience regularly presenting to upper management for issue resolution decisions
• Knowledge or experience of CAN/LIN bus and circuit analysis
• Excellent MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
• CATIA V5 knowledge is a plus
• Knowledge of Casting and Injection Molding processes is a plus
• Possibility of traveling
