A leading furniture manufacturing company in Tecate, Mexico, seeks an experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily activities in the wood shop. Candidates must have 7–10 years of experience in furniture manufacturing operations and a proven record of supervising large teams. Proficiency in English is required, with Spanish preferred. The ideal candidate will excel in leadership and problem-solving within a cross-cultural environment, ensuring production efficiency and quality standards are met.

Overview

Manage and oversee daily activities of the wood shop, ensuring production schedules are met.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, train, and develop a team of ~50 furniture manufacturing employees. Foster a positive and safe work environment that encourages accountability, teamwork, and high performance.
  • Ensure adherence to production plans, quality standards, and deadlines. Monitor workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements.
  • Oversee machine operation, equipment maintenance, and tooling to minimize downtime. Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure product specifications are met. Act as the main liaison between U.S.-based management and the local production team.
  • Prepare and deliver daily, weekly, and monthly production reports in English. Provide input on staffing needs, material requirements, and process optimization.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in furniture manufacturing operations. Proven track record of supervising teams of 50+ employees in a wood shop or factory setting.
  • Strong knowledge of woodworking techniques, equipment, and processes.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); Spanish proficiency preferred.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work cross-cultural and bridge communication between U.S. and Mexico-based teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Background in ERP/MRP systems and production reporting software.
