Job Description

Onyx Strategic Insights, a division of Expeditors, is seeking an Azure Data & Cloud Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud infrastructure within Microsoft Azure. This hybrid role is crucial for delivering secure, high-performance data solutions that support analytics and product development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering and cloud architecture, with a passion for automation, optimization, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Synapse Analytics.
  2. Lead or support the integration of new external data sources.
  3. Build and manage Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
  4. Collaborate with product and data teams to deliver reliable datasets for analytics and machine learning.
  5. Automate deployment and monitoring of data workflows using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  6. Ensure data quality, security, and compliance across all pipelines and storage layers.
  7. Optimize performance and cost of Azure resources, including compute, storage, and networking.
  8. Maintain documentation for data pipelines, cloud architecture, and operational procedures.
  9. Support incident response, backup, and disaster recovery planning.
  10. Stay current with Azure services and best practices, recommending improvements to the data platform.

Qualifications

  1. Proven experience with Azure services such as Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, Blob Storage, Key Vault, and Monitor.
  2. Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, PowerShell).
  3. Experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.
  4. Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data processing.
  5. Familiarity with DevOps and DataOps practices.
  6. Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  7. Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Information

Job Type: Full-time. Expeditors has an in-office work policy and offers 26 work-from-home days per year. Employees may need to travel for client and team meetings depending on location.
