Alcon in Mexico City is seeking an Associate, Industrial & Laboratory Systems Engineering to support the IT Core Connectivity team. The role focuses on designing and operating IT and laboratory networks, offering hands-on experience in systems engineering within a global eye-care leader.

You will monitor LAN/WAN, cloud infrastructure, and security, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help implement changes and continuous improvements. Fluency in English is required.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or IT.
• 2–4+ years of experience with monitoring and troubleshooting network devices (WLAN, LAN, Routers, SD-WAN).
• Advanced English proficiency and ability to work in Mexico City Network Operations Center.

Responsabilidades

• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to suggest improvements.

Associate, Industrial & Laboratory Systems Engineering – supporting the IT Core Connectivity team, you will be primarily responsible for supporting the design and operation of IT and laboratory systems, offering hands-on experience and skill development in systems engineering.

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Act as a primary contact for infrastructure-related services, ensuring alignment with internal standards and guidelines.
• Collaborate with various teams to maintain service quality, security, and compliance.
• Participate in service reviews, continual improvement and change management sessions.
• Monitor, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain the data center, LAN, WAN, Voice & Video and Public Cloud infrastructure, focusing on resiliency and security.
• Monitor network performance and security, identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner.
• Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments are required.
• Process ISP maintenance schedules and coordinate with ISP/Vendors for quick restoration of network
• Design, implement, and maintain computer networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), wireless networks and Data Center connectivity.
• Work on Voice/Video issues.
• Basic Knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure and its troubleshooting.
• Install and configure network equipment, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing in accordance with the Alcon Security and compliance environment.
• Conduct regular network audits to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate network systems with other components, such as servers, storage, and applications.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users and other IT staff.
• Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software, and other network issues.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and enhancements to the network infrastructure.
• Designing, configuring and testing networking hardware, and operating systems

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or IT
• 2-4+ years of experience of monitoring, troubleshooting network devices including WLAN, LAN switching, Routers, SDWAN devices, Voice /Video, Cloud Operation.
• Ability to work rotating shifts.
• Ability to work at the Mexico City Alcon Network Operations Center
• Service Now experience handling tickets.
• Demonstrated experience working in ITIL environments.
• Advanced level of English
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving incidents and major incidents.
• Experience in implementing changes and fulfilling IT Infrastructure requests.
• Must be able to work independently on complex technical issues.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with end users and service providers.
• Must be able to solve problems in a structured and methodical way.
• Proficiency with ServiceNow, ITIL, Cisco, Juniper, AWS, Azure platforms
• Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a complex matrix organization
• Service Now experience handling tickets and creating reporting
• Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and standardization
• Experience working with Telecom providers and supplier support organizations.
• Proven experience as a Network Analyst or similar role.
• Experience working with some of the following: Cisco/Juniper products, Network Management solutions, Meraki, ISE and Bluecat DDI
• Previous experience configuring, troubleshooting LAN environments.
• Office Hours: - 10:30AM to 7:00PM
