Invenergy is seeking an Associate in Structured Finance, based in Mexico City. You will develop and update project financial models and support financing, development, and M&A closings, collaborating with teams across our global offices and external lenders.

The role requires deep financial acumen, strong modeling skills, and fluency in Spanish and English. You will engage with engineers, legal, tax, and commercial teams while preparing investor materials and ensuring robust project finance

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or engineering with finance exposure.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in infrastructure investment finance.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English with strong written and oral communication.
  • Proven ability to develop complex financing models in Excel.

Responsabilidades

  • Perform financial modeling and valuation in support of project viability and M&A.
  • Evaluate financing structures and analyze alternative approaches.
  • Prepare Investment Committee presentations and lender/investor teasis.
  • Support project finance activities through development, construction, and operations.
  • Assist in due diligence for project finance, corporate finance and M&A transactions.
  • Interface with external lenders and partners during due diligence.
  • Contribute to financing documentation and closings for construction financings.
  • Interpret contracts to validate modelling and highlight risks.

Position Overview

As an Associate in Structured Finance, Finance & Capital Markets, you will be responsible for developing and updating project financial models and supporting Project development, financing and/or M&A transaction closings/fundings, You will work closely with other teams within in Invenergy (across our global regional offices and our Headquarters in Chicago), including Development, Construction, Asset Management, Financial Planning & Analysis, Operations, Engineering, and Legal as well as external stakeholders including project lenders, partners. This position is located at our Mexico City, regional office.

Responsibilities
  • Perform financial modeling and valuation in support of financial project viability, project finance and M&A transactions
  • Evaluating project financing structures and analyzing alternative approaches
  • Prepare Investment Committee presentations for internal approvals; Lender and Investor presentations (teasers, One Pagers, CIMs, etc) for debt and equity raising
  • Support project finance activities during development, construction, term conversion, equity funding, and operations
  • Assist in due diligence efforts (internally and externally) for project finance, corporate finance and merger & acquisition transactions
  • Interacting with external financing parties and/or partners in their due diligence process and understanding of our projects
  • Supporting financing documentation and closings for construction financings, term conversions or any refinancing initiatives
  • Support in the preparation of deliverables to lenders and/or equity partners
  • Interpret terms in construction, operation, finance, offtake, shareholder and partnership agreements real estate documents, and other contracts to validate proper modelling and highlight transaction risks that may impact project level and corporate financing
  • Develop and maintain relationships with strategic counterparties within the company such as: engineers, developers, accounting, tax, legal, etc. professionals as well as third party consultants when managing assigned transactions
  • Support corporate finance activities with internal teams
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics or engineering with additional studies in finance/business
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in infrastructure investment finance
  • Power sector experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to develop complex financing models in Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to concisely present information to senior management and third parties on complex financial transactions
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Familiarity in reading and interpreting financing and project agreements
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties
  • Ability to learn quickly and work under limited supervision
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
  • Fluent in both Spanish and English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with project or corporate finance debt or equity transactions, as well as M&A opportunities in power generation or energy/utilities sector
