MATTE PROJECTS in Mexico City is seeking an Associate Design Director to join the remote team on a full-time basis. This role translates creative strategy into visual systems and oversees design across brand identities, campaigns, digital experiences, content, and experiential projects.

The role partners with creative leadership, designers, strategists, producers, and account teams to ensure work is conceptually strong, beautifully executed, and consistent across every touchpoint.

Formación

• 7+ years in design, branding, advertising, or related field.
• Strong portfolio showing visual craft and design systems.
• Experience leading design across brand, campaigns, digital and experiential.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Experience directing and mentoring designers while hands-on.
• Fluency in English and Spanish preferred.

Role Overview

MATTE is seeking an Associate Design Director to join our Mexico City creative team on a full-time contract basis. This role is ideal for a highly conceptual, visually sophisticated designer who can lead projects while remaining actively involved in the work.

The Associate Design Director will help translate creative strategy into compelling visual systems and oversee design across brand identities, campaigns, digital experiences, content, and experiential projects. They will partner closely with creative leadership, designers, strategists, producers, and account teams to ensure the work is conceptually strong, beautifully executed, and consistent across every touchpoint.

This is a remote position for candidates based in Mexico. The individual must be available to collaborate during working hours aligned with MATTE’s New York and Mexico City teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the visual development and execution of integrated creative projects from concept through delivery.
• Develop brand identities, design systems, campaign toolkits, presentations, digital experiences, and experiential applications.
• Translate creative concepts and strategic insights into clear, compelling visual directions.
• Remain hands‑on throughout the design process while providing direction, feedback, and mentorship to other designers.
• Oversee multiple projects and workstreams while maintaining a consistently high standard of craft.
• Create and present design concepts to internal teams, senior leadership, and clients.
• Collaborate with creative directors, art directors, copywriters, strategists, producers, developers, and external partners.
• Ensure visual consistency across digital, social, content, environmental, and physical brand touchpoints.
• Help strengthen the CDMX design team’s processes, capabilities, and creative culture.
• Stay current on developments in design, technology, culture, AI, and emerging creative tools.

Qualifications

• Approximately 7+ years of experience in design, branding, advertising, or a related creative field.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual craft, conceptual thinking, and experience building cohesive design systems.
• Experience leading design across multiple channels, including brand, campaign, digital, social, content, and experiential work.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
• Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate creative decisions.
• Experience directing and mentoring designers while remaining hands‑on in the work.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced agency environment.
• Professional fluency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with international teams or global brands is a plus.

Contract Structure

This is a remote, full-time contract position for an individual based in Mexico. The contractor is expected to maintain full‑time availability and work as an embedded member of MATTE’s creative team for the duration of the engagement. Specific contract length, compensation, invoicing requirements, and renewal terms will be outlined in the applicable services agreement.
