SCOPE OF THE JOB

The AVP, Manufacturing Operations will oversee all daily operations of the manufacturing facility, ensuring on-time delivery of the production plan while maintaining high-quality standards and cost efficiency. This role requires hands-on leadership across multiple departments, including production planning, scheduling, inventory control, quality, safety, environmental compliance, labor management, accounting, and maintenance.

This individual is responsible for the Profit and Loss (P&L) of the Tijuana plant and must drive operational efficiency, organizational effectiveness, cost savings, and responsiveness to customer demands. The AVP will focus on achieving key results in quality improvement, cost reduction, asset utilization, regulatory compliance, and team development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1 - 6 Months Goals

Monitor and manage daily manufacturing operations, addressing any inefficiencies or issues.

Plan, organize, and execute manufacturing operations to exceed customer expectations.

Oversee production, quality, maintenance, continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, engineering, and warehouse operations.

Align production capacity with demand forecasts and implement long-term capital planning.

Ensure readiness for new product launches by coordinating with supply chain and manufacturing teams.

Develop an annual operating plan, including budgeting and capital expenditures.

Drive manufacturing improvements, optimize costs, and ensure compliance with FDA, GMP, and ISO standards.

Strengthen production planning processes to improve on-time delivery.

Enhance workforce engagement and maximize asset utilization.

6 - 12 Months Goals

Oversee all production activities, plant operations, quality control, and financial performance.

Establish efficiency benchmarks and safety metrics, ensuring targets are met or exceeded.

Lead capital projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective implementation.

Set performance standards and drive employee development initiatives.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, implementing best practices in production management.

Maintain regulatory compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Reduce operational costs while improving product quality and production speed.

Recruit, motivate, and evaluate management teams to enhance plant operations.

Develop and implement manufacturing improvement action plans.

Ensure effective communication with senior management regarding operational strategies and progress.

Drive cost-reduction initiatives through waste elimination and efficiency improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Business Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing operations at a managerial level or higher, preferably in the cosmetics industry.

Proven experience in leading large teams and managing complex manufacturing environments.

Strong understanding of business and management principles, including budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, and human resources.

Ability to interpret financial and operational data and provide insights to the executive team.

Familiarity with industry-standard manufacturing equipment and best practices.

Proficiency in ERP, MRP, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Strong leadership, decision-making, and team-building skills.

Hands-on approach with a results-driven mindset.
