Job summary

John Crane, part of Smiths Group, seeks an Application Engineer in Mexico—Global Engineering Center to manage RFQ selection, application, and quotations for Wet Seal Support systems in the Americas. Responsibilities include engineering judgment, design development, and timely technical proposals for mechanical sealing solutions.

The role requires strong communication in English and Spanish, experience with API 682/API-610, and the ability to coordinate with Sales and customers to meet project

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical/Mechatronic/Instrumentation/Chemical Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering design, instrumentation, and manufacturing knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of English and Spanish (Advanced).
• Experience with interpreting customerSpecifications (OEM/EPC/end user) and applying API 682 and API-610.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quotation documents aligning with customer requirements and lead times.
• Evaluate customer specs and select cost-effective materials and lead times for Wet Seals Systems.
• Ensure correct seals and piping plans, sizing of sealant systems, and timely competitive proposals.
• Review and record customer/project specifications and communicate with customers and internal teams.
• Apply engineering judgment to develop designs and standards for various applications.
• Use company tools to establish product selection with proper costing.
• Support KPI tracking, continuous improvement, and post-order activities as needed.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
