Descripción del empleo

We’re on a mission to help our customers and their communities unlock economic mobility for generations to come. Join the team that’s making our goal a reality.

At Possible, we’re building a new type of consumer finance company. One that helps our customers stay out of debt rather than profit from them staying in it. As a Public Benefit Corporation, it is our mission and responsibility to help communities unlock economic mobility through affordable credit products crafted to improve financial health.

Founded in 2017, our lead VCs are Canvas and Union Square Ventures. We have over 100,000 reviews on the App Store with a 4.8-star average rating.

Since our founding, we have redefined how people approach small-dollar loans—delivering over $1 billion in funding to more than 1 million customers, issuing over 4 million loans, and saving our customers more than $500 million.

Team Information

Possible Finance’s accounting team's primary focus is to ensure accurate financial management and reporting for the company. We handle various financial aspects, including but not limited to, record keeping, financial analysis, audit, and tax compliance. By maintaining detailed records and providing valuable financial insights, we play a crucial role in supporting the company's growth and sustainability.

The Accounting Team is integral to Possible's overall success. By maintaining accurate financial data and providing timely reports, we enable management to make informed decisions. Our financial analysis and reporting efforts help optimize resource allocation, driving efficiency and cost-effectiveness across the organization. Moreover, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and tax laws safeguards the company's reputation and minimizes financial risks.

We act as a backbone, supporting other teams in their financial operations. We collaborate closely with departments like Operations, Marketing, and HR to ensure smooth financial transactions, expense tracking, and payroll processing. Our insights and financial reports also guide long-term strategic planning, enabling the company to adapt to market changes and capitalize on opportunities.

The Job

As a Senior Accountant, you will be primarily focused on Accounts Payable Management, with the goal of automating and scaling the function. This work will include daily processing of AP invoices, accounting skills, vendor relationship management, and compliance. Once the initial AP Management work is realized, you will expand to partner with the treasury function by generating reports and information to run our cash flow best.

We also envision the Senior Accountant leading important accounting projects we have scheduled to implement later in the year. These projects can include, but are not limited to, a new ERP implementation, cost accounting, operational cash flow, and assisting in creating policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 5 years with a Bachelor's Degree (3 years with an MS or equivalent experience) in Business or Accounting.
  • A strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles, including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), is essential. Domain expertise with financial statements, journal entries, and general ledger management. A CPA or Chartered Accountant certification is preferred.
  • Previous direct experiences with AP management, with a preference for a person who has already scaled the function.
  • Project Management experiences implementing an ERP, doing cost accounting or operational cash flow, and creating policies and procedures to automate and scale accounting across the company.
  • Meticulous and possesses excellent analytical skills. Ability to analyze financial data, detect discrepancies, and identify trends or anomalies that require further investigation.
  • Practical organizational skills are vital to leading and prioritizing tasks, ensuring that financial records are well-maintained and reports are submitted on time, and proficiency in running tasks with tools such as Trello, Notion, Asana, etc.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial data, high integrity, and adherence to ethical standards, maintain confidentiality, and act honestly and expertly.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (ERP) and Microsoft Excel is essential, with a preference for experience participating and assisting during ERP conversion.

Possible Finance is dedicated to financial fairness and community empowerment. We welcome diverse perspectives and experiences to help us achieve our mission of unlocking economic mobility for generations to come.
