Job summary

Voltech Group is seeking experienced Testing Commissioning Engineers and Protection Engineers for electrical substation protection relay testing and commissioning activities. You will perform pre-commissioning and commissioning tests, verify protection relays, and ensure accurate documentation on site.

Role requires hands-on substation testing, relay testing across protection schemes, and coordination with project teams to meet schedules while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in substation testing, commissioning, or protection relay testing.
• GCC / Middle East experience is an added advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting, technical reporting, and coordination skills.
• Candidates must have practical site experience in substation and relay testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing pre-commissioning and commissioning of electrical substations.
• Conduct testing and configuration verification of numerical protection relays.
• Perform primary and secondary injection testing using suitable testing equipment.
• Test and verify protection schemes, trip circuits, control circuits and interlocking systems.
• Carry out functional testing of circuit breakers, CTs, VTs, transformers, switchgear and protection panels.
• Verify relay settings, protection logic and trip matrix as per drawings and specifications.
• Troubleshoot faults in protection relays, control wiring and substation equipment.
• Read and interpret SLDs, wiring diagrams and protection schematics.
• Prepare testing reports, commissioning documentation and punch lists.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants and project teams to ensure timely completion of commissioning activities.
• Follow project quality standards, electrical safety procedures and site requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform testing pre-commissioning and commissioning of electrical substations
• Conduct testing and configuration verification of numerical protection relays
• Perform primary and secondary injection testing using suitable testing equipment
• Test and verify protection schemes trip circuits control circuits and interlocking systems
• Carry out functional testing of circuit breakers CTs VTs transformers switchgear and protection panels
• Verify relay settings protection logic and trip matrix as per approved drawings and specifications
• Troubleshoot faults in protection relays control wiring and substation equipment
• Read and interpret single-line diagrams SLDs wiring diagrams and protection schematics
• Prepare testing reports commissioning documentation and punch lists

Technical Requirements

• Hands-on experience in substation testing and commissioning
• Strong knowledge of protection relays and electrical protection schemes
• Experience with overcurrent earth fault differential distance and transformer protection
• Familiarity with relay testing equipment such as Omicron Megger or equivalent
• Knowledge of protection relay brands such as ABB Siemens Schneider Electric SEL or GE
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings relay settings and control schematics
• Understanding of HV EHV substation equipment and commissioning procedures

Candidate Requirements
