Cherokee Federal is seeking a Stock Custodian to manage postal stock, financial-service supplies, and accountable postal assets at a Military Post Office across multiple bases in the region.

You will process transactions with POS/RSS, maintain inventory records, support postal financial services, and ensure compliance with USPS, MPSA, DoD, and base requirements. U.S. citizenship is required; contract pending award.

Qualifications

Position Summary

The Stock Custodian manages postal stock, financial-service supplies, and accountable postal assets for an assigned Military Post Office. This role maintains accurate inventory and financial accountability, processes transactions through U.S. Postal Service Point of Service/Retail Systems Software (POS/RSS), and ensures postal financial services operate in compliance with applicable USPS, Military Postal Service Agency (MPSA), Department of Defense, U.S. Air Force, installation, and contract requirements.

A government contract requires that this position be restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. You must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify.

Stock Custodian Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage, safeguard, issue, receive, and reconcile postal stock, including stamps, money orders, accountable forms, financial-service supplies, and other controlled postal materials.
  • Use USPS POS/RSS to process postal retail and financial-service transactions, maintain inventory records, generate reports, and document accountability.
  • Support postal financial services, including money-order sales, stamp stock management, customer transactions, remittances, and required financial reconciliations.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic stock counts, audits, inventories, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and maintain required stock records, cash reports, financial logs, inventory documents, receipts, remittance documentation, and transaction reports.
  • Identify, document, and promptly report financial discrepancies, stock shortages or overages, irregularities, system issues, and potential security concerns.
  • Maintain strict accountability and secure storage for postal stock, financial instruments, keys, forms, records, and equipment.
  • Coordinate stock ordering, replenishment, receipt, transfer, and distribution to support uninterrupted MPO operations.
  • Assist with training MPO personnel on POS/RSS use, stock-accountability procedures, and postal financial-service requirements.
  • Support customer counter operations and general MPO activities as directed by the MPO Site Lead.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable USPS, MPSA, DoD, U.S. Air Force, installation, contract, security, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure stock and financial-services work area.
  • Support operational surges, transition activities, contingency requirements, and other duties assigned in support of the mission.
Stock Custodian Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
Required Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience using USPS POS/RSS.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing postal financial services.
  • Demonstrated experience managing postal stock, conducting financial reconciliations, maintaining transaction records, and resolving inventory discrepancies.
  • Working knowledge of postal retail operations, postal financial instruments, customer-service transactions, and accountability requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, mathematical accuracy, integrity, and recordkeeping discipline.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with customers, team members, military personnel, Government representatives, and company leadership.
  • Proficiency with standard computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and email.
  • Ability to meet all installation-specific access, medical, training, force-protection, and deployment requirements.
  • Mut pass pre-employment requirements of Cherokee Federal.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting a Military Post Office, Army Post Office, Fleet Post Office, or other Department of Defense postal operation.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Air Force postal operations.
  • Knowledge of USPS, MPSA, DoD, and U.S. Air Force policies governing postal finance, stock custody, accountable items, money orders, and retail operations.
  • Experience operating in overseas, deployed, contingency, or austere environments.
  • Experience supporting financial audits, inspections, corrective-action plans, or quality-control reviews.
  • Experience with postal retail systems, cash handling, remittances, inventory management, and financial reporting.
