Job summary

Cherokee Federal in Kuwait is seeking a Postal Clerk to support daily postal operations at ASAB, ADAB, AUAB, and MSAB. You will provide courteous customer service, process mail, maintain records, and ensure compliance with USPS, DoD, and site procedures.

This role requires U.S. citizenship, a high school diploma, and the ability to handle high-volume mail, cash transactions, and security checks. Full-time benefits apply; starting salary is TBD.

Qualifications

  • Ability to follow detailed USPS, DoD, and site-specific postal procedures.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to accurately process transactions, count cash, and maintain records.
  • Ability to use computers, postal equipment, scanners, scales, and standard office software.
  • Strong customer-service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to maintain accountability for sensitive mail, postal stock, and customer information.

Responsibilities

  • Provide courteous, efficient customer service for postal customers and authorized personnel.
  • Accept, sort, process, distribute, and dispatch incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and parcels.
  • Process postal transactions, including postage sales, mailing services, package acceptance, and receipt issuance, as authorized.
  • Verify mailing labels, customs forms, addresses, weights, dimensions, and postage requirements for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain custody and accountability for mail, parcels, accountable mail, stamps, money orders, and other postal stock, as assigned.
  • Receive, log, route, and deliver accountable mail, including registered, certified, insured, and other special-service items.
  • Maintain accurate postal records, transaction documentation, logs, manifests, and customer receipts.
  • Assist with mail screening, inspection, and security procedures in accordance with USPS, DoD, and local installation requirements.
  • Support inventory counts, supply management, housekeeping, and organization of postal work areas.
  • Identify damaged, suspicious, improperly addressed, or noncompliant mail and follow established reporting and handling procedures.
  • Coordinate with postal supervisors, military postal personnel, site leadership, and customers to resolve delivery, service, and accountability issues.
  • Follow all applicable security, safety, privacy, and operational procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of postal operations.

Job description

The Postal Clerk supports daily postal operations at ASAB, ADAB, Optional AUAB, and Optional B MSAB. The Postal Clerk provides reliable customer service, processes incoming and outgoing mail, maintains postal records, safeguards accountable mail and postal assets, and follows all applicable USPS, Department of Defense, and site-specific procedures.

Various Locations: Ali Al Salem Air Base (ASAB), Kuwait; Al Dhafra Air Base (ADAB), United Arab Emirates; Muwaffaq Salti Air Base (MSAB), Jordan; optional placement at Al Udeid Air Base (AUAB), Qatar

A government contract requires that this position be restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. You must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify.

Pay commensurate with experience.

Postal Clerk Responsibilities Include:

Postal Clerk Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
Required Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move mail containers and packages consistent with job and site requirements.
  • Ability to meet all applicable access, security, background screening, medical, and deployment requirements for the assigned location.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience supporting USPS operations in an overseas, remote, military, or contingency environment.
  • Experience supporting postal operations at ASAB, ADAB, AUAB, MSAB, or similar locations.
  • Experience with USPS financial reporting, audits, inspections, and accountable paper inventory.
  • Knowledge of USPS retail systems, postal regulations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience working with government contracts or Department of Defense customers.
  • Associate degree or higher in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least one (1) year of military postal experience.
  • Experience supporting USPS, Military Postal Service Agency (MPSA), Army Post Office (APO), Fleet Post Office (FPO), or Department of Defense postal operations.
  • Experience in an overseas, remote, military, or contingency environment.
  • Experience processing accountable mail, registered mail, insured mail, customs documentation, and package shipments.
  • Familiarity with USPS retail systems, mail processing equipment, and postal financial procedures.
  • Prior experience supporting operations at ASAB, ADAB, AUAB, MSAB, or comparable locations.
