Job summary

V2X seeks a Data Center Network Engineer to support enterprise-class infrastructure across global data center networks. You will manage Nexus switches, UCS chassis, vPC and MPLS/VPN technologies, while contributing to security and documentation efforts.

You will also troubleshoot VMware vSphere alongside monitoring platforms. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, and change control in a large-scale environment, with priority on security, reliability, and proactive issue resolution.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance required.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Experience with data center networking is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide enterprise-level support for a large-scale networking infrastructure in the data center and global transport.
• Expert knowledge of data center hardware and technologies (Nexus 9000, Fabric Extenders, UCS chassis and interconnects; vPC, FCoE, Catalyst VSS, MPLS L3VPN, eBGP/iBGP, OSPF/EIGRP, DMVPN, FlexPod).
• Basic understanding of VMware vSphere for troubleshooting.
• Installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the data center environment; perform change control and engage Cisco TAC as needed.
• Monitor availability using DX NetOps Spectrum, SolarWinds Orion, and Cisco DNA Center.
• Enforce DISA STIG-based security practices and perform regular IAVA/CCRI maintenance.
• Identify and investigate malicious network activity; maintain detailed network diagrams.
• Create and track network issues/requests in ServiceNow.
• Perform other duties as required.

Data Center Network Engineers support the Enterprise-class infrastructure of the RCC-SWA. RCC-SWA engineers provide optimization, administration, and technical documentation of all enterprise infrastructure systems. Additionally, engineers resolve and appropriately complete assigned cases and change requests while acting as an escalation point for troubleshooting issues. The core infrastructure technology duties include an in-depth understanding of Cisco’s Nexus switching, ASR routing, UCS compute platforms, and lifecycle management planning. The MCF is managed by the RCC-SWA and provides enterprise Information Technology (IT) services to approved Army customers. Responsibilities

• Produce enterprise-level support for a dynamic and large-scale networking infrastructure from the perspective of service origination in the data center, as well as service delivery in the global transport architecture.
• Provide expert level knowledge of data center infrastructure hardware such as Nexus 9000 series switches, Fabric Extenders, UCS chassis’ and UCS Fabric Interconnects. Along with assuming the expert role regarding vPC, FCoE, Catalyst VSS, MPLS L3VPN, eBGP/iBGP, OSPF/EIGRP, DMVPN, FlexPod design philosophy, among other tunneling and data center-centric technologies. While also offering a basic understanding of VMware’s vSphere infrastructure and the virtual networking components for troubleshooting purposes.
• Installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the data center environment are primary roles in this position. Provides change control and engages Cisco TAC for issues, modifications and best practices when needed.
• Monitors availability and reliability of the data center network and supported infrastructure utilizing DX NetOps Spectrum, SolarWinds Orion and Cisco DNA Center.
• Executes engineering best practices in network builds, integration, testing, and documentation while adhering to security fundamentals provided by DISA’s Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
• Performs regular system maintenance in support of IAVA vulnerabilities and CCRI compliance.
• Ensures that all managed technologies are compliant with current DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
• Assists with identifying and investigating malicious network activity.
• Creates and tracks network issues/requests using the ServiceNow ticketing system.
• Creates, updates and maintains detailed network diagrams.
• Performs other duties and assignments as required.
