Job summary

V2X Inc. is seeking a WAN Engineer to support a multinational, secure network infrastructure in Kuwait. The role requires expert Cisco routing and security certifications, extensive VPN and DMVPN experience, and DoD 8570.01M compliance.

Expect design, troubleshooting, and change management across a dispersed WAN, plus documentation and scripting in Python. The successful candidate will maintain infrastructure, review STIGs, and produce detailed diagrams while coordinating with the global team.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate routers and switches across Southwest Asia AOR; configure OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MP-BGP, DMVPN, MPLS, VRF, QoS.
  • Identify problems and troubleshoot DMVPN phases 1–3.
  • Evaluate network performance and adjust hardware/software to optimize performance.
  • Perform routine system maintenance against IAVA vulnerabilities and CCRI compliance.
  • Plan capacity for data, voice, and video networks.
  • Monitor WAN availability using DX NetOps Spectrum, SolarWinds Orion, and Cisco DNA Center.
  • Follow DISA STIG security guidelines in all builds and documentation.
  • Create and maintain detailed network diagrams and track issues in ServiceNow.

The WAN Engineer is required to be certified at the expert level in multiple disciplines of networks and security (e.g. CCNP/CCIE & CISSP). WAN Engineers perform operation and maintenance (O&M) for the RCC‑SWA enterprise network infrastructure. They will ensure stability and provide daily support for a geographically dispersed wide‑area network infrastructure and are responsible for design, troubleshooting, optimization, administration, change management, and technical documentation. Must have expert knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, VPN devices, and routing protocols. Program: OMDAC‑SWACA

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for maintaining and operating routers and switches throughout the Southwest Asia Area of Responsibility. Configures OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MP‑BGP, DMVPN, MPLS, VRF, and QoS.
  • Identify problems and troubleshoot DMVPN phases 1-3.
  • Evaluate network performance and adjust the network infrastructure hardware and software to include, but not be limited to, routers, switches, and network management tools, in order to operate and optimize network performance.
  • Perform regular system maintenance in support of IAVA vulnerabilities and CCRI compliance.
  • Perform capacity planning for communications networks carrying data, voice, and video.
  • Monitor availability and reliability of the WAN and supported infrastructure utilizing DX NetOps Spectrum, SolarWinds Orion, and Cisco DNA Center.
  • Execute engineering best practices in network builds, integration, testing, and documentation while adhering to security fundamentals provided by DISA’s Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Ensure that all managed technologies are compliant with current DISA STIGs.
  • Assist with identifying and investigating malicious network activity.
  • Create, update, and maintain detailed network diagrams.
  • Create and track network issues/requests using the ServiceNow ticketing system.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as required.
Qualifications
  • Security Clearance: Requires an active Secret Clearance.
  • Education / Certifications: One‑year related experience can be substituted for one‑year of education if the degree is required. Associates Degree or equivalent experience preferably in Computer Science or MIS, IS, Engineering or related field. This position requires candidates to adhere to DoD 8570.01M. All candidates are required to maintain at least one baseline certification and one computing environment (CE) certification. Baseline certifications cannot also be used as a CE certification.
  • Baseline Certifications:
    • Cisco: CCNP – Certified Network Professional – Security (cannot be used as dual qualifier)
    • CompTIA: CASP+ ce – Advanced Security Practitioner
    • CompTIA: SecurityX ce
    • GIAC: GCED – Certified Enterprise Defender
    • GIAC: GCIH – Certified Incident Handler
    • ISACA: CISA – Certified Information Systems Auditor
    • ISC2: CCSP – Certified Cloud Security Professional
    • ISC2: CISSP (or Associate) – Certified Information Systems Security Professional
  • Computing Environment (CE) Certifications:
    • Cisco: CC‑DN‑A – Certified DevNet Associate
    • Cisco: CCIE – Certified Internetwork Expert (Any)
    • Cisco: CCNP – Certified Network Professional (Any) (Cannot be used as a dual qualifier)
  • Experience: One year of related academic study above the high school level may be substituted for one year of experience, up to a maximum of a four‑year bachelor's degree in a Software Engineering or Business Information Systems discipline for three years of general experience. At least 10 years of practical experience working with network and systems technologies. A high level of understanding and experience with data network systems, routing, switching, Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF), MPLS, and layer 2 protocols. Experience with VPN technologies. A solid background with TCP/IP and must be able to troubleshoot all supported network protocols. Experience with creating and maintaining custom Python scripts. Experience working with and maintaining Cisco DNA Center. Experience with a customer service‑oriented company.
  • Skills & Technology Used:
    • Ability to verify that all systems under the direct control of RCC‑SWA are properly configured in accordance with the Higher Headquarters, Local, and DISA STIG configuration policies.
