Job summary

Amentum seeks an experienced Aerostat Operations Specialist to oversee OCONUS PSS-T site activities and lead a maintenance team. You will manage the schedule, ensure spare parts and consumables, and direct launch/recovery operations with a focus on safety and reliability.

The ideal candidate brings a Secret clearance, hands-on experience with aerostat systems, and strong troubleshooting skills. Expect challenging field conditions, potential deployments to CENTCOM/EUCOM/AFRICOM zones, and

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
BS/BE in electrical/electronics/engineering or related field; or equivalent engineering technology degree; experience may substitute education.
Three years aerostat experience and four years technical experience in listed disciplines.
Prior shift lead experience.
Active Secret US Government Clearance required; US citizenship may be required.
Valid US Driver’s License.
Passport valid for at least 6 months; preferably 1 year.
Supervisory/Leadership experience.
Knowledge of hardware systems and components.
Experience in fault detection, isolation, and correction of hardware systems.
Ability to perform routine system maintenance and analysis including hardware configurations, tolerances and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

Supervise the execution of the assigned work schedule and crew duties.
Maintain spares, helium, POL, vehicles, test equipment, tools, and consumables.
Perform timely maintenance and address replacements or repairs.
Submit reports on operations, status, downtime, and logistics.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems, interfacing with TCOM personnel.
Perform Launch and Recovery Director duties including weather assessment and pre-flight checks.
Oversee post-flight maintenance and repairs (e.g., tether replacement, helium replenishment).
Ensure compliance with safety policies in all aerostat operations.
Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on avionics, fiber optics, and electrical systems.
Utilize standard tools and equipment for assembly, wiring, and testing.
Read schematics and engineering data; maintain site documentation.
Operate special purpose vehicles including man lifts.
Develop and train junior technicians; perform other duties as assigned.
