Production Engineer – Oil & Gas Operations

Schedule: Rotational 7/7 days (potentially extendable to 14/14); Mon–Sun, 12 hrs/day OR 8 hrs/day + night on-call duty (TBC)
The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Production Engineer to join a major onshore oil production operation in southern Italy. This role focuses on supporting site operations, monitoring greenhouse gas emissions, and optimising production efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of hands-on experience in oil and gas processing, emissions reporting, and digital monitoring tools.
You’ll work closely with both field teams and smart room operations to ensure environmental compliance and continuous improvement in plant performance. Key Responsibilities
Smart Room & Production Support
Provide technical support for site operations and Smart Room activities
Monitor and analyse GHG emissions to reduce flaring and improve process efficiency
Support operations in production, chemical management, and processing activities
Prepare weekly reports on flared gas and SO₂ emissions from flare/incinerator
Investigate links between flaring events and maintenance activities
Assist with environmental exceedance reporting and corrective action implementation
Summarise air quality and odour exceedance events detected by fixed monitoring stations
Design and maintain operational dashboards using PI Vision and PI-AF
Conduct performance tests, test runs, and fiscal metering activities
Emissions Monitoring & Compliance
Oversee monitoring of key parameters from six authorised emission points
Alert relevant stakeholders to anomalies or threshold exceedances
Archive daily emissions data and produce summary reports
Collaborate with site teams for issue resolution and root cause identification
Reporting & Stakeholder Communication
Draft daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required
Prepare official notes and notifications to authorities in line with local regulations (DGR 588/2021 - AIA)
Record production, process, or environmental anomalies and corrective measures taken
Support CSR teams in responding to air quality or odour complaints
Assist with GHG monthly reporting and flaring gas conversion calculations
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
5–10 years of experience in oil and gas operations or process engineering
Strong understanding of upstream production, heat and mass transfer, fluid dynamics, and energy conversion
Knowledge of environmental regulations and emissions reporting in industrial settings
Experience with PI/PI-AF or similar process data management systems
Problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and strong communication skills
Italian or English fluency required (Italian preferred)
