Job summary

The City of San Benito PD is seeking a Wastewater Maintenance Worker / Heavy Equipment Operator (H.E.O.) to perform skilled operation of a range of heavy construction and wastewater maintenance equipment within the sewer system. Responsibilities include installing and repairing sewer lines, loading and transporting equipment, performing routine maintenance, and responding to emergencies.

A high school diploma or GED and at least two years of heavy equipment experience are required, plus a valid

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum two years of experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in street maintenance or construction.

Responsibilities

• Operate City equipment units (backhoe, loader, excavator, dump truck) and tools to perform required operations.
• Install and repair wastewater lines; excavate to grade, lay pipe, install taps and manholes.
• Block off work areas and reroute traffic for safety.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
• Follow safety rules and regulations.
