Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to provide front-line patient care in a vascular surgery setting. The role includes rooming patients, taking vitals, managing histories, and assisting providers with procedures.

You will perform basic lab duties, sample handling, and ensure adherence to CLIA and safety standards while maintaining clear communication with patients and team members. This full-time role follows a 8a-5p M-F schedule with 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent military training per DD214.
• IL/WI divisions require high school diploma and either a Medical Assistant program or 2 years of verifiable full-time MA experience.
• Wake Forest/Floyd & Navicent require similar MA education or experience.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows department policies.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, history, allergies, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs venipuncture, specimen handling, and basic CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines following medication administration rights.
• Handles referrals, refills, scheduling, and insurance authorizations.
• Maintains clean, stocked clinical areas and communicates with the team effectively.
• Demonstrates competency-based skills and age-appropriate patient care.
