Berlin Packaging, based in Lombardy, is seeking a Transport Specialist to plan, organize and monitor transportation for the Italian business, with backup support across EMEA. You will coordinate carriers, monitor shipments and address delays, ensuring service levels and cost control.

The role emphasizes continuous improvement, KPI monitoring and collaboration with logistics, customer service and sales to maintain high operational performance in a high-volume environment.

Job Purpose

The Transport Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing and monitoring transportation activities, primarily supporting the Italian business while providing backup support across EMEA when needed. The role focuses on ensuring shipments are executed efficiently, service levels are maintained and customer needs are met. This includes coordinating carriers, monitoring transport execution, managing operational issues, controlling transportation costs and supporting day-to-day transportation activities. The position plays a key role in maintaining operational continuity, supporting a high-volume workload and identifying practical opportunities to improve transportation efficiency and service performance.

Key Accountabilities

Manage daily transportation operations for the Italian business

• Plan and organize transportation activities according to business priorities and customer requirements.
• Coordinate carriers to ensure timely and efficient execution of shipments.
• Monitor shipments from origin to destination and proactively address delays, disruptions or service issues.
• Manage urgent and exceptional transportation requests while maintaining service quality and customer satisfaction.

Drive transportation efficiency and cost control

• Identify opportunities to optimize transportation planning, shipment consolidation and carrier utilization.
• Leverage transportation systems and available tools to improve efficiency while maintaining agreed service levels.
• Verify transportation invoices against contracted rates and support cost control activities.
• Monitor transportation service performance through operational KPIs and carrier performance indicators.

Support continuous improvement and operational excellence

• Contribute ideas and practical improvements to simplify transportation processes and increase operational effectiveness.
• Support the adoption and effective use of transportation systems and tools.
• Collaborate with colleagues across logistics, customer service, sales and other functions to resolve operational challenges and improve service quality.
• Actively contribute to a positive, collaborative and customer-oriented working environment.

Organization & Team Structure

The position reports to the Transport Manager and is part of the EMEA Transport organization.

The role works closely with logistics operations, customer service, sales teams, warehouses, carriers and other internal stakeholders to ensure the effective execution of transportation activities.

The position has no direct reports.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification required.
• Additional education in logistics, transportation or supply chain is considered a plus.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in transportation planning, carrier coordination and shipment execution.
• Experience working in operational environments with demanding service requirements.

Technical Skills

• Good knowledge of transportation processes and road freight operations.
• Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) or similar logistics platforms.
• Good analytical capabilities and confidence working with operational KPIs.
• Good Excel skills for operational analysis and reporting.

Languages

• Fluent English, both written and spoken, is required.
• Additional European languages are considered a plus.

Yearly Salary Range

32-38K EUR
