Job summary

Telespazio – Leonardo Space Division in Italy seeks a Junior Flight Dynamics Engineer to provide mission analysis support, design and verify flight dynamics requirements, and assist LEOP preparation across GEO/LEO/MEO missions.

You will join the Flight Dynamics department at the Fucino Space Centre, with a permanent contract, hybrid work model, and a base pay range of €33,000–€42,000 per year. English proficiency and willingness to travel abroad are required.

Qualifications

• BS or Master’s degree in mathematics, physics, aerospace or relevant engineering discipline.
• Junior level: 0–5 years of experience with strong analytical abilities.
• Good English language skills and clear communication.
• Knowledge of Java and/or OREKIT is preferred.
• Willingness to travel abroad and occasional unusual hours during operations.

Responsibilities

• Provision of Mission Analysis support for Flight Dynamics requirements specification and verification.
• Support Operations Concept definition, preparation and LEOP activities.
• Assist in configuring procedures and system evolutions for flight dynamics.
• Coordinate with other teams during launch and post-launch phases.
• Contribute to anomaly resolution and investigation activities.

The Flight Dynamics Organizational Unit (around 20 people) deals with Mission Analysis, Flight Dynamics infrastructures design, implementation and operations, and Flight Dynamics expertise provision to all the Company departments. Moreover, it provides the Flight Dynamics operation for the entire fleet of GEO and LEO spacecrafts and constellations for both commercial and institutional customers and agencies. The successful candidate for this vacancy will be employed in the Telespazio Flight Dynamics department located in the Fucino Space Centre (Italy).

Requirements

• BS or Master's (preferred) degree in mathematics, physics, aerospace or a relevant engineering discipline
• Seniority: 0–5 years of experience
• Leadership, relationship management and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Cognitive, analytical, delegation, planning and organisational skills
• Ability to anticipate problems, solve complex issues and relate situations to their context.
• Developing and evolving competences to meet current and future needs
• Eligibility to get relevant security clearances for National Programs
• Good knowledge of the English language
• Knowledge of programming languages, preferably JAVA
• Knowledge of the OREKIT library, preferred but not required
• The candidate must be available to work at unusual hours for limited periods during nonroutine operations (i.e. Launch and Early Orbit Phases, Grave Yarding) or during contingencies.
• The candidate must be available to travel abroad.

Purpose

• Provision of Mission Analysis support for Flight Dynamics requirements specification, design, development and verification phases
• Provision of Flight Dynamics support to the Operations Concept definition and Operations Preparation
• Provision of Flight Dynamics support to the Definition, Preparation and Execution of Launch & Early Orbit Phase (LEOP)
• Provision of Flight Dynamics support to the Definition, Preparation and Execution of routine Phases from Commissioning to Graveyarding
• Support to, and implementation of, anomaly resolution and investigation
• Flight Dynamics direct Operations for LEO, MEO and GEO satellites, from Launch to the Graveyarding
• Implementation of the necessary System Evolutions in terms of Operational Procedures, System Configurations and Development.
