Your team

You’d be working in a multi-disciplinary group, where people with different backgrounds collaborate, each with their own expertise.

Within the Center for Nano Science and Technology (CNST), you will mainly support the technical management of the Optical Characterization and Scanning Microscopy Facility. This includes advanced instrumentation, including : Atomic Force Microscope (AFM); Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM); UV-Vis spectrometer; FTIR; Spectrofluorometer; Spectral Ellipsometer.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that the instrumentation is maintained in its optimal state, also foreseeing, arranging and managing maintenance or restoration interventions by specialized external companies;
• Risk assessment and safety of laboratories;
• Managing access and attendance;
• Carrying out training for Center staff.
• You will also have to share general management tasks with the other technicians of the Center, such as : ordinary maintenance interventions; interventions by external companies; communication with assistance services and with the technical offices of the IIT headquarter in Genoa; emergency management.

Requirements

• High School / Bachelor Degree in STEM disciplines;
• Skills in the field of optics and scanning microscopy;
• Experience in the design and construction of experimental optical apparatus;
• Experience in research and development activities, with particular attention to activities in high-tech laboratories (research labs, start-ups, industrial R&D);
• Good knowledge of the English language;
• Good interpersonal interaction skills and predisposition for teamwork;
• Attitude towards learning and continuous updating.
