Jobtailor in Milano, Lombardy, is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to lead cross-functional Java teams and own technical architecture. You will translate requirements into designs, drive best practices, and oversee delivery of enterprise software in insurance-related projects.

You will mentor engineers, ensure code quality, and collaborate with PMs and architects to deliver robust solutions using Java, REST, Angular, and DevOps tooling.

• 5+ years of software development experience with Java technologies.

• Act as the technical reference point for the team, providing guidance and support on design and implementation decisions
• Define and validate technical solutions and application architectures

• Monitor project progress, identifying risks, bottlenecks and deviations from plans
• Ensure adherence to software engineering best practices, including clean code, security, performance and maintainability
• Supervise development, testing and release activities
• Support the resolution of complex technical issues and production incidents
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Business Analysts and Architects to ensure successful project delivery
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, development standards and technical governance

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software development using Java technologies
• Previous experience coordinating development teams or acting as a technical lead
• Proven experience delivering enterprise software projects
• Experience working in structured environments and customer-facing projects
• Experience in the insurance sector is considered a plus
• Strong knowledge of Java / JavaEE (Java 8 or higher)
• Strong knowledge of software architecture principles and REST API design
• Solid experience with SQL databases, complex query optimization and performance analysis
• Good knowledge of Angular (version 7+)
• Experience with DevOps concepts and tools (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines)
• Experience using version control systems (Git)
• Ability to analyse functional requirements and translate them into technical solutions
