Job summary

Alpitronic is seeking a System Engineer for Patents & IP to act as a key technical interface between R&D, System Engineering, and IP stakeholders, including patent attorneys, to protect innovations in our EV fast‑charging technologies.

You will identify patentable solutions, support patent applications with technical descriptions and drawings, perform prior‑art searches, and contribute to a strong IP portfolio while promoting IP awareness within the R&D organization.

• Performing technical analysis of inventions, including identifying inventive aspects, assessing differentiation, and supporting patent applications with descriptions, explanations, and drawings.
• Conducting and supporting technical prior‑art searches and analyses.
• Providing technical input for patent infringement assessments and freedom‑to‑operate evaluations.
• Maintaining and developing a technical IP knowledge database for R&D, including patent landscapes and internal invention records.
• Promoting IP awareness and best practices within the R&D organization.

Job description

As System Engineer for Patents & IP you will act as a key technical interface between R&D, System Engineering, and Intellectual Property stakeholders (including patent attorneys and IP management). You will support the protection of innovation within our EV fast‑charging technologies by identifying patentable solutions and contributing to the development of a strong IP portfolio.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serving as the technical liaison between engineering teams and IP stakeholders
• Collaborating closely with developers to identify patentable technical solutions within EV fast‑charging systems
• Performing technical analysis of inventions, including:
  • Identifying inventive aspects
  • Assessing technical differentiation from existing solutions
  • Supporting the preparation of patent applications by providing structured technical descriptions, system‑level explanations, and drawings
• Conducting and supporting technical prior‑art searches and analyses
• Providing technical input for patent infringement assessments and freedom‑to‑operate (FTO) evaluations
• Maintaining and continuously developing a technical IP knowledge database for R&D, including patent landscapes, competitor analyses, and internal invention records
• Promoting IP awareness and best practices within the R&D organization

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a comparable technical discipline
• Several years of professional experience in a technical role with strong exposure to patents and IP analysis.
• Solid understanding of complex technical systems, preferably in one or more of the following areas:
  • EV fast‑charging systems
  • Power electronics and energy conversion
  • Industrial or automotive electronics
• Experience in technical patent analysis, including claim interpretation and invention disclosure support
• Structured, analytical, and detail‑oriented working style
• Strong communication skills for interacting with engineering teams and non‑technical stakeholders
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Italian and/or German is considered an advantage
