ALSTOM Gruppe seeks a Structural Design Mechanical Design Engineer in a hybrid setup, responsible for managing CAD activities and delivering 3D/2D designs for carbody shell structures in the railway domain.

The role requires a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 1–2 years of railway experience, plus English and Italian basics for technical discussions. Collaboration with subcontractors is expected.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance Measurement/KPI’s

• Installation lead time delivery after complete reception of P phase 3D
• Respect of DMU classification rules
• Quality of deliverables (first time right)

Responsibilities

Accountable and responsible for: (activities that cannot be delegated to N-1 in the operational org. chart - CAD) - Managing CAD activities

• Ensuring interface with subcontractors

Accountable for: (can be done by the MDE or delegated to CAD)

3D Detailed design of structural parts considering

• -- Allocated volumes given as inputs
• -- Interfaces defined with stakeholders
• -- Load cases
• -- Technical referential (materials characteristics, ECA constraints,...)
• -- Manufacturability constraints

2D or annotated 3D Detailed design of structural parts considering internal rules of data structuration

Contributes to

• Providing weight data to Weight Discipline Engineer
• Calculation optimization with Structural Integrity Discipline Engineer
• Dimensional management activity (A is MLE (CBS impact only) or TOL-LE (train level impact))

MAIN REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Educational Requirements & Experience

Mandatory:

• Graduated from Mechanical Engineering school with Master of Science degree

• Mechanical Engineering preferably applied to Railway products with 1 to 2 years of experience
• 3D Modelling, drawing creation
