Job summary

UNICEF, Office of Strategy and Evidence (Innocenti) in Florence, invites a Writing and Editing Consultant for 4.5 months. The role focuses on drafting and editing the 2026 EDAR and related annexes, ensuring alignment with UNICEF editorial standards and high-quality narrative across chapters.

The consultant will work with technical experts and senior leadership to translate complex inputs into a concise, publication-ready strategic report, meeting tight timelines and contributing to UNICEF

Qualifications

• University degree in English, Communications, Public Relations, Media, Journalism, Liberal Arts or related field.
• At least 10 years of experience writing/editing in English.
• Excellent command of English and attention to detail; concise, persuasive writing.
• Experience with UNICEF Strategic Plan reporting or corporate reporting is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Draft and edit the UNICEF 2026 EDAR narrative and related annexes to UNICEF editorial standards.
• Develop detailed report outlines, chapters, executive summaries, and key messages.
• Coordinate with technical specialists, programme experts, data analysts and senior management.
• Harmonize writing style, verify facts and ensure readability and impact.
• Prepare publication-ready drafts and ensure alignment across EDAR components.
