Job summary

Lexroom is expanding its engineering organization and seeks a Staff Engineer to steer architectural decisions across squads, own major initiatives, and raise the engineering bar as we scale. You’ll report to our engineering leadership with autonomy and no direct reports.

You’ll work across frontend, backend, systems, and architecture, driving cross-team initiatives and shaping technical direction while balancing speed and long-term quality. Fluent English is required; Italian is a plus.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering with senior or founding-level experience.
• Hands-on experience designing and running large-scale distributed systems.
• Track record of owning cross-team initiatives end to end.
• Ability to influence without formal authority across multiple squads.
• Fluent in English; Italian is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-team technical initiatives spanning several squads to completion.
• Make and own architectural decisions balancing speed, quality, and scalability.
• Align tech leads and managers on direction through influence, not hierarchy.
• Define what great engineering looks like and raise the bar in hiring panels.
• Work across frontend, backend, systems, and architecture problems as needed.
