Job summary

OHB Italia seeks an RF COMM Subsystem Engineer in Milano/Roma/Torino to design and manage spacecraft RF communication subsystems, including Telemetry/TC, data links, and budgets. You will define requirements, select hardware, and coordinate with customers and suppliers.

The role requires a strong RF background, experience with Ka-band, and ability to work across the project lifecycle with international partners. Travel across Europe may be needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Electronics or comparable qualification.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in RF Communication subsystems design.
• Experience with modulation schemes and CCSDS standards.
• Experience with RF & data transmission subsystems up to Ka-band.
• Good knowledge of RF test equipment and measurements.
• Willingness to travel in Europe (up to 1–2 per month).
• Fluent in English; Italian knowledge preferable but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with space standards (ECSS, NASA) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Architectural design, trade-off analysis, baseline configuration selection and requirements definition of Communication subsystems: Telemetry, Tracking and Command, etc.
• Responsible for ensuring RF subsystem design meets upper system performance.
• Establish and maintain subsystem performance budgets and key parameters.
• Support technical meetings with Customer and Suppliers.
• Lead and coordinate technical project tasks for subsystem development.
• Define and maintain the technical baseline over the project life cycle.
• Support system engineering in mechanical, thermal, electrical and EMC interfaces.
