STMicroelectronics is seeking a highly skilled SW Functional Safety Senior Engineer for its GPAM Automotive & Open Community Framework Team to drive safety-related software for STM32 and Stellar microcontrollers.

The role focuses on ISO 26262 compliance, safety lifecycle management, and safety analyses across automotive and industrial embedded software, with strong emphasis on C programming and RTOS integration.

Competenze

  • Master degree in Electronic engineering or Computer science or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in functional safety for automotive/embedded software.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 and related safety standards.

Mansioni

  • Contribute to software functional safety activities for automotive/industrial embedded software.
  • Support development of safety-certified software products and safety libraries.
  • Ensure ISO 26262/IEC 61508/IEC 60730 compliance across projects.

YOUR ROLE

For our General Purpose and Automotive Microcontroller Division (GPAM) / GPAM Automotive & Open Community Framework Team we are looking for a highly skilled SW Functional Safety Senior Engineer to contribute to the software functional safety activities for automotive and industrial embedded software solutions associated with STM32 and Stellar microcontrollers.

The successful candidate will act as a key safety expert within the Automotive & OCF organization, supporting the development of safety-certified software products, safety libraries, AUTOSAR-based solutions, and customer projects while ensuring compliance with ISO 26262 / IEC 61508 / IEC 60730 and other relevant safety standards.

Your Skills & Experiences

  • Master degree in Electronic engineering or Computer science or similar
  • >5 years experience
  • knowledge of ISO 26262, SEooC concepts, ASIL decomposition
  • Safety lifecycle management
  • Safety analyses and confirmation measures
  • Familiarity with IEC 61508 and IEC 60730
  • Good programming skills in C is mandatory
  • Experience in development/Integration of RTOS low level drivers, middleware, applications, and toolchains
  • Software integration and verification
  • Microcontrollers and SoCs
  • Good knowledge of ARM based platforms is a plus
  • Skill with HW debuggers (e.g. Lauterbach Trace32, Segger J-Link, PLS etc…) and other analysis tools is a plus
  • Solid understanding of Automotive SPICE or similar SW QA standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Strong ownership and accountability.
  • Customer Support driven attitude
  • Motivation to work in multi-site & multi cultural projects context

The expected salary range for this position is € 55.000,00-70.000,00 gross annual salary (RAL), plus variable pay relevant for the role.

In accordance with the EU Pay Transparency Directive and applicable Italian legislation, this compensation range has been determined based on objective, gender-neutral criteria, including job responsibilities, required skills, relevant experience, qualifications, and market benchmarks. Placement within the range will depend on the candidate’s profile and demonstrated competencies. The final offer will be made in compliance with the applicable National Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCNL), where relevant, and our internal compensation policies.
