Job summary

Valmet in Lucca, Italy seeks a Software Commissioning Engineering Technician to join the automation team. You will commission and optimize converting roll machines at customer sites and remotely, supporting customers worldwide.

You will troubleshoot software, process, machinery, and tooling issues to ensure reliable performance during testing and production, and carry out maintenance and quality checks. The role requires PLC and HMI expertise with Siemens S7/TIA Portal and Rockwell platforms,

Qualifications

• Technical school diploma or degree in Electronics, Software, Automation, Informatics, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience as a Software Technician in manufacturing; experience in the converting industry is an advantage.
• Hands-on experience with PLC, HMI, controls engineering, and machine safety systems, including Siemens S7/TIA Portal and Rockwell platforms.

Responsibilities

• Perform software checkout, commissioning, and startup activities for converting roll machines at customer sites and remotely.
• Troubleshoot software, process, machinery, and tooling issues to ensure reliable equipment performance during testing and production.
• Carry out maintenance activities, quality checks, and performance reviews while recommending upgrades and spare parts to optimize operations.
• Train customers on equipment operation, maintenance, and best practices to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Collaborate with technical teams to improve software programming and develop enhanced automation solutions.
