We are looking for a passionate Shoes Retail Merchandising Specialist to join the Merchandising team, located in Milan.
As Shoes Retail Merchandising Specialist, you will be the bridge between Collection Merchandising, Markets and several corporate teams, ensuring that the collection assortment and representation in the network meets business objectives while staying true to the brand’s identity and vision.
Your main responsibilities will include:
1. Buying Strategy & Assortment Planning
- Drive the global retail buying approach for the Core category, ensuring consistency with brand vision, product direction, and commercial goals in close collaboration with Collection Merchandising
- Contribute to the definition of the OTB by category/shape, supporting regions in building a bottom-up plan driven by distribution logic and strategic projects.
- Contribute to developing tailored assortment strategies by store cluster, client segmentation, and regional characteristics
2. Collection Review & Buy Readiness
- Organize and facilitate pre-buy sessions and collection presentations with regional counterparts (Buying, Retail, VM, Brand)
- Oversee the master order rollout to regional teams, clearly communicating product narratives and key business priorities
3. Worldwide Buying Alignment
- Review, consolidate, and approve regional buy inputs in line with the global assortment strategy
- Serve as the primary liaison for regional merchandising teams, providing guidance throughout the buying cycle
4. Commercial Performance & Analysis
- Assess global retail performance metrics (sell-in/sell-out, sell-through, SKU efficiency, inventory health) and propose actions to optimize assortment and in-season decisions
- Track product lifecycle and support re-merchandising initiatives to maximize full-price sell-through across channels and markets, while managing aged or off-price stock
- Share insights and results with Collection Merchandising to support future strategic and tactical planning
- Gather qualitative and quantitative feedback from markets to uncover local demand, customer behavior, and growth opportunities
- Ensure structured feedback loops with central teams to inform and influence upcoming collections
- Perform regular store and market visits to evaluate product performance, competitive landscape, and field insights
5. In-Season Optimization
- Define and execute in-season levers (rebalancing, replenishment, stock optimization) to drive sales and mitigate inventory risk
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Production to monitor deliveries and product availability across the network
6. Cross-Functional Partnership
- Work in close alignment with Visual Merchandising to translate product strategy into effective in-store execution
- Support Brand, CRM, and Training teams to ensure consistent storytelling and impactful local activations
- Work closely with Brand Department, to align the calendar with the go-to-market strategy
Profile / Qualifications
Analytical and product-driven merchandiser with a strong sensitivity to the luxury footwear market. Comfortable operating in fast-paced, cross-functional environments and confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
- Between 3 to 5 years of experience in retail merchandising, preferably within the fashion industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Able to work harmoniously and empathetically with diverse stakeholders and teams.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable plans with proactive approach.
- A problem-solving mindset with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in retail systems and software (e.g. Power BI). Advanced Excel skills are a must.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Confident public speaker, fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Deep understanding of the luxury customer and market dynamics.
- A strong sense of brand belonging and aesthetic sensibility.
