Job summary

Flex is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer – Medical Equipment & Diagnostics based in Milan, Italy, to lead system-level architecture and drive cross-domain engagements for complex medical programs. You will collaborate with mechanical, electronics, controls, embedded software, and sensors teams; build rapid prototypes; and apply technologies like IVD systems, robotics, mechatronics, and embedded AI/ML.

Qualifications

• Senior experience in system engineering or complex product development in regulated industries.
• Strong background in IVD, surgical systems, or advanced lab equipment.
• Mechatronics, motor control, and sensor systems expertise.
• Cross-functional exposure across two or more domains (mechanical, electrical, embedded, controls).
• Familiarity with embedded AI/edge technologies is a plus.
• Excellent communication with senior stakeholders (CTO, R&D, VP).
• Hands-on, self-driven mindset and ability to prototype solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical workshops and customer discussions with international clients, translating needs into system concepts.
• Define and guide system architectures across feasibility, proof-of-concept, and development phases.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electronics, controls, embedded software, sensors).
• Build rapid prototypes and technical demos to support validation and client engagement.
• Integrate technologies such as IVD systems, robotics, mechatronics, and embedded AI/ML.
