Topcon Positioning Group is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Field Survey Applications (C++). You will develop field software for Windows/Linux/Android/iOS to support Topcon and third‑party equipment including GNSS receivers and robotic total stations, using Qt/QML/C++.

Responsibilities include planning, design, and delivery, plus maintaining and enhancing cross‑platform systems, with opportunities to influence software processes and architecture. Remote/hybrid options available.

Competenze

• Degree in Geodesy, Geoinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics, or related field
• Overall software development experience of at least 3 years
• Experience with Windows development is needed
• Knowledge of Qt and QML is a plus
• Experience with Linux/Android/iOS development is a plus
• Experience with Geodesy, Geodetic coordinate systems, Geoid, vertical datum, GNSS is a plus

We are looking for a qualified Senior Software Engineer, Field Survey Applications (C++)

Job Purpose

The Senior Software Engineer, Field Applications, will work on the development of Field software for Windows/Linux/Android/iOS to support wide range of Topcon and 3rd party equipment like GNSS Receivers, Robotic Optical Totals Stations, depth finders, laser range finders. Development skills and experience in: C++, QML, Communication protocols.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Works with the project manager, team leader, and software team to plan and manage delivery schedules
• Acts as the single point of contact for all issues related to a particular software module development, high-level design, and delivery, and as such, works with all other engineering disciplines
• Evaluates and schedules all changes in the scope of the module design and delivery
• Performs modules maintenance, modifications, and enhancements to new/existing systems through programming, testing, and documenting
• Implements support of Topcon Optical Robotic Total Stations, Topcon GNSS Receivers, Mass Data collection devices, and other equipment in the Geomatics Field Survey software for Android/iOS/Windows/Linux written in Qt/Qml/C++
• Supports our mature software written in MFC
• Implements Surveying routines
• Follows, recommends, and implements software processes
• Provides technical directions to others as necessary
• Analyze and resolve technical and application problems

Minimum Job Requirements

• Education & Experience: Degree in Geodesy, Geoinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics, or a related field
• Overall software development experience of at least 3 years
• Experience in software development process implementation
• Experience with software development tools (configuration management, design, emulation, debugging, compilers, static analysis, ai, test, etc.)
• 3+ years of professional experience in C++ development
• Experience with Windows development is needed
• Knowledge of Qt and QML is a plus
• Experience in supporting industrial or any other time of hardware equipment is a great plus
• Experience with Linux, Android, or iOS development is a plus
• Experience with computational geometry, spatial algorithms and/or 3D Rendering (DirectX, OpenGL) will be a great plus
• Experience with Geodesy, Geodetic Coordinate systems, Geoid, Vertical Datum, GNSS and/or Optical Survey, CAD will be a great plus

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles
• Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and multithreading concepts
• Familiarity with cross-platform development and GUI frameworks
• Knowledge of bug tracking systems (JIRA) and version control systems
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
• Expert knowledge in C++, Standard Library, Boost
• Knowledge of network protocol analyzers and communication protocols used over Ethernet, Wi-Fi, USB, Bluetooth, BLE, RS232 is a great plus
• A good command (both written and speaking) of the ENGLISH language is required for the job
• Knowledge of the following is a great advantage: c++20, boost, asio, gRPC, protobuf, mqtt, ntrip, rtcm, cryptography, static analysis, memory optimization, C++ templates, sql, multithreading, lockfree, docker, geometry, eigen, cgal, tin, surfaces, corridors, roading, parametric curves, splines, ESRI, Bentley, Autodesk, Civil3D, Revit, DWG, ODA, cogo, geodesy, coordinate systems, LandXML, shapefile, las, point clouds, numerical methods

Working Conditions

We offer flexibility in how and where you work, including both remote and hybrid options. To support collaboration and team connection, we ideally seek candidates who can travel to our Concordia office regularly, even if not on a daily basis.
