Topcon Positioning Group in Italy is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Field Survey Applications to develop and maintain field software used with GNSS receivers and surveying equipment across Android, Windows, Linux and iOS.

You will implement modules in Java/C++, contribute to debugging and documentation, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help shape new features while ensuring high-quality software delivery.

Competenze

• 3+ years of software development with strong Java and/or C++.
• Hands-on Android development, including Android Studio.
• Strong OO design, algorithms, data structures, and multithreading.
• Experience with dev tools, version control, debugging, testing, and documentation.
• Knowledge of JIRA, CI/CD, and automated testing practices.
• Knowledge of c++20, boost, asio, gRPC, protobuf, mqtt, NMEA, cryptography, static analysis, memory optimization, C++ templates, sql, multithreading, lockfree, docker, geometry
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate in English.
• Ownership mindset and ability to guide others.

Senior Software Engineer, Field Survey Applications

Location:

Hybrid role with three days per week in the office, preferably in Concordia sulla Secchia (Modena) or Ancona office

Topcon Positioning Group designs productivity tools that bring workflow automation and seamless data connectivity to construction, Geomatics, and agriculture. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help develop field software used with GNSS receivers, robotic total stations, and other surveying equipment across Android, Windows, Linux, and iOS platforms.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain field survey applications using Java, C++, and related technologies.
• Implement software modules that connect with Topcon and third-party field equipment.
• Collaborate with project managers, team leaders, and software teams to plan delivery schedules and ensure high-quality execution.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve technical and application issues.
• Support existing mature software while contributing to new features, enhancements, testing, and documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and contribute to continuous improvement of software processes.

Key skills and competencies

• 3+ years of professional software development experience, with strong Java and/or C++ skills.
• Hands-on Android development experience, including Android Studio.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, software design principles, algorithms, data structures, and multithreading.
• Experience with software development tools, version control, debugging, testing, and documentation.
• Knowledge of bug tracking systems such as JIRA, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing practices.
• Knowledge of the following is a great advantage: c++20, boost, asio, gRPC, protobuf, mqtt, ntrip, rtcm, NMEA, cryptography, static analysis, memory optimization, C++ templates, sql, multithreading, lockfree, docker, geometry
• Ability to work in cross-functional engineering environments and communicate effectively in English.
• Problem-solving mindset, ownership of technical topics, and ability to guide others when needed.

• Competitive salary package: €55,000 - €65,000 gross annual salary, based on skills and experience, plus a variable bonus.
