Job summary

Keysight Technologies in Milan, Italy, is seeking an engineer for the New Product Introduction (NPI) team to work across RF, digital, and mechanical domains on 4G/5G and future 6G devices for wireless network test and validation.

You will develop automated test solutions, perform system bring-up, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with R&D and manufacturing to ensure producibility and reliability, including coordination with Keysight Penang.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Linux environments and Python scripting for test automation.
• Hands-on experience with RF/microwave systems and wireless technologies.
• Experience integrating and troubleshooting systems with RF, digital, embedded, and networking tech.

Responsibilities

• Integrate, validate, and troubleshoot Radio Units, UE emulators, and wireless test systems for 4G/5G/Open RAN and future 6G.
• Perform system-level bring-up and verification of RF, digital, networking, timing, and synchronization subsystems.
• Debug hardware, firmware, software, and RF issues using root-cause analysis.
• Develop automated test solutions for RF validation and manufacturing tests, including new algorithms.
• Collaborate with R&D to investigate design issues and improve manufacturability and reliability.
• Design manufacturing processes and develop tests to determine instrument performance and specs.
• Modify or create test stations to support production needs.
• Support product integration involving RUs, O-RAN, CPRI/eCPRI, Ethernet, timing, and server platforms.
• Leverage AI-assisted diagnostics to improve fault isolation and test automation.
• Coordinate with Keysight Malaysia Penang plant for transfer of instrument production when needed.
• Create documentation for production tests and address quality issues.
• Analyze test data and make specification recommendations during instrument settings.

About the Job:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the New Product Introduction Engineering Team (NPI). As a member of our NPI team, you will collaborate with manufacturing, R&D, marketing, and engineering teams worldwide to contribute to innovative projects in a high-tech environment. Your focus will be on the integration and interconnection of complex 4G/5G and future 6G devices used for wireless network validation. You will apply your programming and measurement knowledge to a variety of hands‑on projects.

The NPI team is multidisciplinary, involving electrical, software, and mechanical engineers, and is responsible for introducing new products into manufacturing and supporting production worldwide throughout the product lifecycle.

We are seeking an engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced development environment, with the ability to work across digital, analog, and RF domains, and leverage AI agents to improve test efficiency, diagnostics, and production scalability.

Responsibilities

• Integrate, validate, and troubleshoot complex Radio Units (RU), User Equipment (UE) emulators, and wireless network test systems used in 4G, 5G, Open RAN, and future 6G environments.
• Perform system-level bring-up, integration, and verification of RF, digital, networking, timing, and synchronization subsystems.
• Debug hardware, firmware, software, and RF performance issues using structured root cause analysis methodologies.
• Develop automated test solutions for RF validation, manufacturing test, and product qualification activities, Designing and implementing new test algorithms
• Collaborate with R&D design teams to investigate design issues, validate corrective actions, and improve product manufacturability and reliability.
• Helping to design the manufacturing process and develop product tests required to determine instrumentperformance and specifications.
• Making modifications to test stations or creating new test stations as needed to support production test needs.
• Support product integration activities involving Radio Units, O-RAN architectures, CPRI/eCPRI interfaces, Ethernet networking, timing synchronization, and server-based platforms.
• Leverage AI-assisted diagnostics and intelligent agents to improve fault isolation, troubleshooting efficiency, and test automation coverage.
• Working with team in Malaysia / Penang (Keysight Manufacturing plant) to transfer instrument production when needed.
• Creating documentation for the production tests and test stations. Partnering with Penang to address and resolve quality issues that may appear during production
• Analyzing test data and making specification recommendations during instrument specification settingprocess.

Qualifications

• Experience working in Linux environments and using scripting languages such as Python to automate test and troubleshooting activities.
• Hands‑on experience with RF and microwave systems, wireless communication technologies, and radio architectures.
• Experience integrating and troubleshooting complex electronic systems containing RF, digital, embedded, and networking technologies.
• Familiarity with wireless standards including LTE, 5G NR, Open RAN, and related radio access network technologies.
• Experience using RF test instrumentation including spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers, vector signal generators, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and power meters.
• Understanding of RF measurements, calibration techniques, and performance verification methodologies.
• Familiarity with agent frameworks
